Hey guys and gal, well I thought I better post this up as it is major news in Bronco Country. Well we all know it now, Brandon Marshall is now a Fin. He goes back home into gang infested Miami haha. Ok so my view on this trade wasn't that I didn't care either way. I didn't mind if we kept him because he is very talented but I was happy if we got good value for him. Which I think we did, I was hoping for two 2nd rounders and that is what we got, which I think is good.
This will be an amazing trade if Marshall gets into trouble and gets suspended for a year. Only time will tell if this is a good move. For one I think it is a good move, why? One I don't like men that beat women (not proven but he has problems) and he disappeared in the redzone, maybe Miami won't be able to score any points? And hopefully we can.
But this does change our draft a little with the extra pick. Which is good if McD hits on the good players. We will see. And now Scheffler has signed his tender so he is probably on the way out as well, hopefully we get good value for him. Here's to the Broncos in 2010 ~ Aussie Out!

ReplyDeleteMy new draft:
1. Pouncey
2. Linval Joesph or Terrance Cody(don't think he will be here though)
2. Toby Gerhart
3. Sean Lee
4. Myron Rolle
5. John Skelton
6. Danario Alexander
7. Erik Cook
My new draft:
ReplyDelete1. Dez Bryant
2. Matt Tennant
2. Dexter McCluster
3. Sean Lee
4. Amari Spievey
5. Jordan Shipley
6. Erik Cook
7. Not sure about this pcik yet.
I think my 4th rounder probably will be another WR.
ReplyDeleteShipley maybe?
ReplyDeleteI like Shipley. Sounds good to me. Just noticed you didnt have any WR's (Marshall replacement)in your mock draft. If we dont get Dez Bryant in the 1st then it think we should get Arrelous Benn or Demaryios Thomas if he is there in the 2nd.
ReplyDeletePrincess, happy birthday
ReplyDeleteRoyalBeast, Thats pretty funny. LMAO
Everyone Else: Here's mine
#1: Sean Weatherspoon
#2: Toby Gerhart
#2: Mardy Gilyard
#3: J.D. Walton
#4: Jordan Shipley
#5: Altearan Verner
I know a lot of you are going to disagree, but these are probably the most likely players McD will select.
Why do you think these are the most likely players McD will draft?
ReplyDeleteRead this rotoworld.com
ReplyDeleteThe Colorado Springs Gazette believes the Broncos need to reward Elvis Dumervil with an extension as an example of the kind of player the team values. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall both pouted their way into lucrative extensions with other clubs when Josh McDaniels gave in. Dumervil bought into scheme change, kept his mouth shut and led the league in sacks. The "30 percent" rule makes long-term deals difficult, but Denver needs to send a message that it's not just the squeaky wheels that get the grease.
Source: Colorado Springs Gazette
I couldnt agree more with this.
#80, this is why:
ReplyDeleteGerhart:
He's versatile. McDaliels loves players who can play multiple positions and contribute on all ends of the football field. We were horrible in short yardage situations last year. Gerhart would be a nice complement to Moreno and is insurance in case Buckhalter gets hurt.
Jordan Shipley:
We just traded Marshall. Even before the trade we still had a need at WR. Jordan Shipley is a nice slot reciever who plays a lot like Wes Welker.
Gilyard:
We need a reciever to play opposite Royal. Gilyard played in a similar system at Cinci and had a similar QB throwing to him in Tony Pike. Gaffney is nothing more then a #4 reciever IMHO
Weatherspoon:
We need a ILB. McClain doesn't show the work ethic that McDaniels expects, which is probably why McDaniels didn't even invite him in for a workout. Spencer Larson is our new FB since Peyton Hillis is gone. Woodyard is a special teams player and nothing more. Weatherspoon is the logical pick.
J.D. Walton:
IMHO he is the best Center in the draft. That's right, I just said Walton is better then Maurkice Pouncey. Walton is the nice big center we need to anchor our ne Power-Run scheme.
#80... I couldn't agree more with that too. Of all the people we have that are FA's we need to give Doom a big contract that says we value players with heart on and off the field and don't pout. I think I went a bit overboard with Marshall going. I hate that we let all that talent go, but he does have so much baggage with him. I hope he does well for his own sake but now that he's in Miami, a place of trouble for a guy like BM, he's gonna have the battle of his life trying to wash his hands of his mess, and stay out of more trouble in Miami. I didn't want to get rid of him mainly b/c I'm concerned about who we get to replace him. I'm content with Stokley & Royal but we all know we need someone of Marshall's caliber... the height, the eye-popping one-hand catches... the talent. Pretty unmatchable it seems but we need another Beast playing for us. That's my only worry and God only knows who McD will pick to take up that space. My patience with that guy is running real thin. I EXPECT at least 10 wins this season or I will be P freakin' od!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd with that said, I'm not about to try and predict what McD will be thinking at the draft, picking players... dude has a mind of his own. But if McD is thinking of picking some of those players Doc mentioned, I wouldn't be too unhappy about it. We just need to play it smart and get the guys that will be of value to us. Time will only tell.
I didn't have a WR in my draft because I don't think we need to replace Marshall, that isn't the Patriots style. They like to get under achievers and older guys and get production out of them. You don't need a really talented receiver like Marshall to win games.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree that Doom needs a contract. Good Pass rushers are harder to find then WRs.
ReplyDeleteI just have this feeling that we will do one of two things in the draft. One is we pick alot of lineman and pick for need. The other is that we don't do any of that and go after talented playmakers. I just don't get that feel of an equal balance of the two which we will need.
ReplyDeleteStill think Pouncey will be the first pick. At 6'4 304 pounds and with his techique he will be a solid pick for years to come.
Pouncey is the best C in the draft. Is he head and shoulders, pick #11 better? No way. He's only 4 pounds heavier and is slower than the other two top guys. There are plenty available not much below that, but doubtful they could start right away.
ReplyDeleteWe need one WR not two. McKinnley and Willis have speed and aren't bad. You got to give them their chance. McKinnley needed to add some weight. IDK if he got that done. I would love it if we got a "real" FB instead of using Larsen there.
11. Spiller
ReplyDelete43. Alualu
45. Ducasse
80. Mitchell or Decker
Scheffler to Cleveland for#92
92. Walton
114, 183 and 220- CB,FB,ILB Not necessarily in that order.
Techique wise he is heads and shoulders above the others. He could come in right away and start and the others probably not.
ReplyDeleteI still think Larsen should play ILB.
ILB that late in the draft is an after thought. We need to get one. Also think we won't take a WR, or one and it will be in the second or 4th round. Top Class WR's are not the pats style.
ReplyDeleteI agree on WR except that we won't get one. We'll get one. Some people say we need more than one though. Decker is 3rd round and doesn't drop any passes.
ReplyDeleteI also agree Larsen is going to be the ILB now, which leaves the actual void at FB. We don't use one much so it would have to be a guy who is also good at STs. We can get one late though. Maybe even CFA.
Pouncey is best, you're right. Not worth #11 though. A trade down and if he's there then fine.
Oh I finished the mock above.
ReplyDelete114. Verner CB
183. Vincent Rey ILB
220. John Conner FB
Let me know what you think after you scope them out.
Alterraun Verner I like, may not be the quickest CB, or the biggest but plays well. Only real big problem with him is for a shorter guy he didn't have a big vertical jump which could be bad in the pros.
ReplyDeleteVincent Rey I like also, on paper he has good speed for the ILB, faster than Sean Lee who I like also about the same size. Had very similar measurments to Lee also. Late in the draft he could be a solid pick. I also like Weatherspoon at ILB he has amazing measurables but he has a mouth like Joey Porter.
John Connar? Wasn't he in terminator? Not the biggest or the fastest, but will contribute on ST I believe if picked and can hopefully block.
Doc, let me give you my thoughts on those guys.
ReplyDeleteGerhart:
Dont get me wrong, i like Gerhart, but i like McCluster better. You want to talk about versatility, look at my McCluster. Like u said, McD likes versatile guys. I agree we were not the best goaline/short yardage team last year, but when you consider Moreno was a rookie with a smallish OG and C you have to realize that Moreno could be a pretty good short yardage back. And whos a better replacement if Bucky goes down. Gerhart or McCluster, McCluster is just a better version of Bucky.
Jordan Shipley:
I like Jordan Shipley to. I do think McD might draft him. Reminds me alot of our aging Brandon Stokley.
Gilyard:
I think Gilyard is a pretty good reciever, but he is undersized. I think we will be targeting a bigger receiver, kind of like Branson Marshall. And please dont compare Tony Pike to Kyle Orton as they are 2 different QB's. Tony Pike has a descent arm unlike Orton and is bigger than him. I would compare Tony Pike to Joe Flaccoe. And IMHO Gaffney is not "nothing more than a #4 receiver". Gaffney could be a average #1 receiver and a good #2 receiver. He played really well in the last two games last year filling in for Marshall.
Weatherspoon:
I like Weatherspoon, but i dont think ILB is our biggest need which i dont think makes him the most likely pick, but it could happen. I know Larsen is our FB and Woodyard is a great BU and ST player, but i think we have forgotten about a guy named Mario Haggan. I dont think McD would have released Andre Davis without a plan. I think hes planning Mario Haggan to start at ILB this year.
J.D. Walton:
Walton is a DESCENT center. He is NOT better than Pouncey or Tennant and both of these guys would match our power-run scheme better than Walton. I think you had said Pouncey was 285 lbs. or something, but i dont know were you got that from, but im pretty sure thats false. Heres Pounceys, Tennants, and Walton's measurements.
Pouncey, Maurkice 6'4" 304 lbs.
Tennant, Matt 6'5" 300 lbs.
Walton, J.D. 6'3" 300 lbs.
Doc, I got to agree with 80# on some of these points. I think Gerhart could bring something McCluster couldn't but we already have Moreno for that job. And we need a KR and McCluster could double up in that roll.
ReplyDeleteShipley and Gilyard are solid picks and I will be happy with them.
I agree about Weatherspoon and his amazing measurables but like 80# said not a big need with the players we already have, but I would not mind having him.
As for J.D Walton, 80# has it right, I think on the other blog you should Pouncey was 280 pounds. And you also said "Walton is the nice big center we need to anchor our new Power-Run scheme." Now Casey our old center was 280 pounds. And out of the top 3 centers Walton is the smallest. And techique wise Pouncey is the better one. I am with 80#, Pouncey is heads and shoulders above the others and I can see us taking him with our 1st round pick.
For those that want to replace Marshall well here is Marshall 2.0 without the issues off the field. And due to the knee issues he will be available in the 4th round or later.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTDP19DFQjk
Would have been a 1st or 2nd round pick if not for the knee injury this year.
ReplyDeleteIm a fan of him now. Looks pretty good, alot of traits of Marshall and big play talent. Nice find Aussie. Would be cool if we could get him, but with the later round guys its so hard to try to guess whos going to be picked, its easier to try to pick like in the 1st 4 rounds. But hopefully McD will know about this guy.
ReplyDeleteHey Aussie, what do say me and you and whoever else wants to, make a final mock draft on Wednesday before the draft. Make two mocks. One of all the teams just in the 1st round and one for the Broncos in all rounds. We will see who gets the most picks right. We can do this on dbtruefans.blogspot.com to if you think it is a good idea. Like i said anybody else can do this.
ReplyDeleteMorning fellers. we should probably do that on here 80. Most over there don't get into the mocks so much.
ReplyDeleteWalton is no Pouncey but I like him better than Tennant as far as power blocking. Tennant is more of what Shanny would like. McCluster getting picked may rely on how well Arrington looks. McD didn't mention him in his press conference, but maybe that means we'll take him. Hard to decifer the between the lines talk. What is the truth and what is a fib. Not lie, just fib.
This is a better value chart for doing trade downs.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mockingthedraft.com/2010/4/11/1416362/2010-trade-value-chart
Alright Digger,
ReplyDeletewe will just do that on here. I know its cunfusing and puzzling to try to figure out who McDaniels really wants to pick or if hes just setting up smoke screen or whatever. All i know is i hope we will draft McCluster. Im not into the trade down stuff so much because there could be so many possibilitys with 31 other teams. But yeah you, me, Aussie, Doc, and whoever else wants to can post there mock draft(s) on Wednesday right before the draft on Thursday.
OK Hopefully we know what pick we got for Scheff by then. What did you want to do? One full 1st round one and one Broncos all rounds?
ReplyDeleteInvite Law from truefans. He would be about the only one who would want to do it I think. For bragging rights?
ReplyDeleteyah, thats what i was thinking, but if u got another idea, im open to suggestions.
ReplyDeleteDo you think i should post the idea on truefans and see if anyone wants to join, because i dont know Laws e-mail address or anything. You dont think OBF or BB would want to do it?
ReplyDeletealso no trades or anything in the mock draft, just the draft picks we have as of Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBring it up over there. Maybe they want to. I'm in. You set it up.
ReplyDeleteBronco#80, one good game against the KC Chiefs does not make Gaffney a solid #1 recieer. Also Tony Pike is not similar to Joe Flacco. They are both tall, but Flacco can move outside the pocket. Also Pike doesn't have much arm strength either.
ReplyDeleteWould you guys want adalius thomas if he is available?
ReplyDeleteAlso that is a good idea 80# I will put a post up here where we can submit our mocks.
And Doc I agree on Pike, I am not sold on him.
Doc,
ReplyDeletei think that if we do not draft a legit reciever in the draft then Gaffney will be our #1 reciever, hes had a consistent career and is a McD favorite. Either way if we do draft a good reciever in the draft then i think he will be our #2 reciever with Royal in the slot. I think Gaffney could be a solid reciever for us. You may be right about Pike though, although i do think he has alot more strength than Orton.
Aussie,
I would be ok with Adalius Thomas, just ok. Hes going on 30 and his play is dropping.
Also about the mock draft thing. Aussie, do you think we should do it over at truefans, here, or both or what, cause im not sure. Thing is if we do it here alot of the main truefans members arent members on here so they might not want to do it here. What do u think?
I wanted AThomas when he went to NE. Not so much anymore. Gaffney will be our #2 WR no matter how many and how high you draft WRs this year. McD will not start two rookies at WR. Also the reason I know he won't draft a WR in the 1st round is he has his rating system and there is no way a WRs impact in his value system is worthy of a 1st round pick, ever. I would bet quite a bit that as long as he coaches(anywhere) he will not take a WR in the first round. You can all tell me how wrong I was if he takes Dez, but like I said my money is against it. Besides Dez is stupid. May be a great kid and McD seemed to like him, but WRs don't mean much to McD.
ReplyDeleteIDK Digger, as of right now i think i have Dez Bryant penciled in my mock draft for the #11, its just my gut feeling. Things could change my mind from today to Wednesday, but we will see.
ReplyDeleteWell I thought I could put a post up here for it and I guess we can post ours over there. It doesn't really matter, we can just copy and paste.
ReplyDeleteHey Aussie
ReplyDeleteIs it morning there?
I say we do it here. Those other guys don't do mocks. They might tell you a few they like, but have no idea where to take them.
I think its 2 pm there. Right Aussie. Anyways we should probably just do it here, but do u think i should just post the idea up at truefans and tell them if they want to do it to become a member of this site. That way we can get a few more members to. :)
ReplyDeleteSure
ReplyDeleteWhen I posted that Digger, yes it was the morning, now late afternoon.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes sounds good I will put a post up with some rules later on and you can see it in the morning.
