NFL.com Outlook-
Orton vs. Cutler: The Broncos thought so highly of QB Kyle Orton, they traded QB Jay Cutler to get him. Alright, it probably did not happen that way. Orton did however look impressive last week against the Seahawks, driving the Broncos to 10 points, which would have been more if Jabar Gaffney had not dropped a sure touchdown reception. Jay Cutler, meanwhile, looks to provide the Bears with the franchise QB they have lacked since Jim McMahon.
The status of WR Brandon Marshall: The enigmatic receiver told reporters that he was "not close" to learning new coach Josh McDaniels' playbook. So the team left him at home for its preseason game at Seattle last week. Could the club and receiver be heading for a standoff?
Injuries: Expect Dawkins to sit as he recovers from his hand injury. Simms may also sit unless he overcomes his ankle injury. Knowshon is out with the knee injury.
So what to expect from this game. It will be a big battle between Orton and Cutler this week as Broncos fans will be comparing the two a lot from this game. I think Orton may get the upper hand as I think the Denver fans may get into Cutler's head with the boos. Or it will make him have a great game. Also it is interesting to note if Marshall will see any playing time in this game or will McD continue to sit him.
Also keep a close eye on the Defense and see if there has been any improvement from last weeks game. I hope to see some turnovers in this game and an improvement on special teams. What I want to see happen in this game is Doom to get a sack on Cutler and Champ to take a pick six off him.
Make sure to take note of what sort of roll newly acquired Russ Hochstein plays in this weeks game.
And I will leave with this question, food for thought, is Cutler the most hated man in Denver or is it McD? have your say. - Aussie Out
Update - The Broncos signed QB Ingle Martin as an extra arm since Chris Simms has an ankle injury that will keep him out for 2-4 weeks. It is expected that Martin will be cut when Simms returns. But he will be given the chance to compete. RB Marcus Thigpen was released/waived to make room on the roster for Martin.
Update on Dawkins - He has been training without the orange injury jersey for the last two days so he could be on his way back and may play in this weeks game.
Update 2 on Dawkins - It is believed that dawkins will have his first start of the season this week against the bears. Also Jordon and Moreno are out for this game, and it has been reported that Moreno may miss week 1's game. Also Marshall may be held out of this weeks game again since he didn't train today.
First
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm. That's a good question aussie. I say a tie for first.
ReplyDeleteYou should post the pic of jay cutler's body with a screaming two year old face.
ReplyDeleteBears defense looks very stout! Cutler looks back to pro-bowl form. Broncos defense looks leaky, the offense needs to score 28 points. I'm glad this is just a pre-season game!
ReplyDeleteOh... since I don't like to cop out like others, I'd have to say Cutler is the most hated man in Denver.
ReplyDeleteAdam Scheffter reports Chris Simms will be out 2-4 weeks. looks like Brandstater will see a lot more playing time.
ReplyDeletewith Simms injured, do you guys see us making a move for another quarterback?
Cutler or McDaniels? Cutler is more hated...for now
ReplyDeleteWe will get revenge on Cutler this week, then we'll hate McD full time.
ReplyDeleteSimms is way too fragile! He got hit and spattered his spleen! Can you imagine that! "Arrgghh... MY SPLEEN!!!"
ReplyDeleteHe reminds me of Griese. Last year little Champ Bailey took Griese out on a corner blitz. Imagine what would happen if a 250 lb line backer hit him. Simms is a 2nd stringer at best, he can't take a hit. Brandstater is the future... or someone else.
Nice article Aussie. As of now I'd say Cutler is the most hated person in Denver but I think most fans will let the outcome of this game decide on that question. If we kick their butt (which we will) I think Denver fans will warm up more to the presence of McD, but if we decide to not show up and let da Bears walk all over us like a doormat most fans will be envious of Cutler and da Bears and then hate McD with a passion. Just basing that off how our fans react to things. There are alot of fair weather fans who only want to be a fan when we do well. So for games like this they just go with the flow till it ends the way they want it to.
ReplyDeleteJ.C., Champ Bailey is a helluva hitter. he plays like a linebacker when he's going after the ball carrier. just saying this because you made it sound like Champ hits like a girl. lol.
ReplyDeleteSimms is the same as Torain. can't stay healthy. he is not the future quarterback of the Broncos. for now Kyle Orton is.
Dr.Chris, I was just using his size. His velocity attributes greatly to the impact of his tackles. Since he's one of the fastest and quickest, being hit by him while standing in the pocket would probably amount to a greater impact per square inch than a slower larger line backer (once the math is all done, that is.)
ReplyDeleteJ.C. that would be a lot of math. they need to hav that on myth busters, what would hurt more, a skinny, fast guy hitting you or a slow big guy.
ReplyDeleteHey, Do any of you know if Phonzy is injured? He was in pretty bad shape against the seahawks. If he pushes hard enough, he could take CB spot opposite Champ.
ReplyDeleteThought I'd share this with you guys in case you haven't seen it already. Marshall is still practicing, maybe he's actually trying to figure out the playbook and trying to get back to playing football instead of yapping off his trap. He just might stay a Bronco, hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteMarshall is back at practice
and we signed another QB. Ingle Martin. Number-__.
ReplyDeleteCutler praises McDaniels

hello, anyone here? Wonder how good the new QB is.
ReplyDeleteChris, sent u trade request in FF
ReplyDeletei would rather make a move for tyler thigpen. You like those trades don't you 80?
ReplyDeletebut i guess it doesnt matter too much, simms will be back by seasons start, we just needed a guy who can do better than brandstater, as long as orton stays healthy we should be fine.
ReplyDeleteyep, i like the trades. Its like an addiction. I saw your little trade, Jennings and Moss for Welker. I say thats like a dead even trade for both of you. Im not sure who got the better end of the deal, but personally IF i had to chose, i would side with you and take Welker.
ReplyDeleteoh and nevermind Chris, i canceled the trade offer, thought it over and decided that i shouldnt risk it.
ReplyDeletehaha,
ReplyDeletewhat was the trade offer to chris?
yeah, like i told you when you offered me moss, I don't really trust him enough to ever start him, but i needed a runningback upgrade, and I actually really like kevin walter. He was the deciding factor for me.
And I agree, trading is also an addiction for me. It was funny bfnhp84 plays hardball when it comes to trades, we wnt back and forth a bunch of times before our agreement.
You are a hard puppy to deal with as well, but I think our trade worked out for the best. Oh and what do you think about the questions I posted in the commissioners note?
hey aussie,
ReplyDeletewhats up with the broncos logo being flipped backwards on this article??? Pet peeve- When people put broncos logos backwards on their cars or at work on their hard hats.
the offer was WR Hushmanzadeh, RB Thomas Jones and WR Stokley for RB Ronnie Brown and WR Lee Evans. Decided that i liked Hushzadah to much. Oh and im fine with no divisions, but it doesnt matter to me.
ReplyDeletehey whose Orange Crush in our FF league. Just sent him a trade proposal. Anyways, good night, i go to sleep now.
ReplyDeleteaddicted to trading? lol. whats the point in drafting a guy if you're going to trade him?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be doing a lot of trading because I forgot it was a keepers league. send me some trade requests.
Well i didnt draft the players after round 3 so you know. Sent you a trade request Chris. Oh and it is sure quiet around here, like a ghost town. 1st post today.
ReplyDeleteguuuuuuurllllll!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete???? what, who are you callin a guuuuuuurlllllll and for what reason.
ReplyDeleteto funny florio, so random. Just felt like saying guuuuuuuurlllll for no reason ha. lol
ReplyDeleteHoly crap 80. We are going down. Did you see/read/hear the latest stories? We are sinking this whole team.
ReplyDeleteno, what?
ReplyDeleteDid you see the marshall video?
ReplyDeleteno, this stupid computer doesnt let me get on main sport sites, i can only get on here, DP, and yahoo sports.
ReplyDeleteHe's acting like a 4yearold at practice. Not doing the drills right. Smacking the ball away when hes supposed to catch it. Punting the ball instead of handing it to the ball boy.
ReplyDeleteno, that stupid idiot. What video? Were is it, were did you here this. If this is true, he needs to go. Trade
ReplyDeletei saw it on the pft. its called "brandon marshall is offically an idiot".
ReplyDeletehttp://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/08/27/brandon-marshall-officially-is-an-idiot/
ReplyDeleteoffcially is an idiot
ReplyDeletedang it, i hate this computer. Stupid thing, man i want to watch that video.
ReplyDeleteThey also sed KM won't be ready for our first game. He is really slipping. McD was an idiot for playing him without that much conditioning.
ReplyDeleteare you sure this is reliable source because go to DP and it has a different report of marshall today
ReplyDeletewhat? What do you mean? here is the report:
ReplyDeleteWe've been fair to Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall. When ESPN tried to smear him unfairly regarding battery charges on which he was later acquitted, we cried foul and demonstrated the serious flaws in Bristol's reporting.
But based on this video from Wednesday's practice, courtesy of TheDenverChannel.com, we are now prepared to conclude that Marshall is, in our opinion, an idiot.
A complete idiot.
Watch the video if you disagree. He's acting like a spoiled brat, knocking the ball down during individual wideout drills, punting the ball instead of handing it to the ball boys, and generally lollygagging.
So it's no surprise that Marshall wasn't at practice today.
As one league source recently pointed out, the Broncos should be documenting Marshall's behavior. They'll need that evidence if/when they decide to suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team.
And though Marshall's plan likely is to be disruptive without providing full-blown cause for a conclusion that he's acting like Terrell Owens circa 2005, what we saw in that video is, in our view, enough to justify sending him home for the first four weeks of the season, at a total salary loss of $517,000.
The Broncos should do it. They've got nothing to lose, in our view. If the grievance succeeds, then they'll pay him the salary they would have otherwise paid him anyway for being of no value to the team's effort to win football games.
Marshall apparently also doesn't realize that his behavior is making it even less likely that another team will pull the trigger on a trade for him. The fact that Marshall is behaving so badly for the Broncos is more than enough to make any potential buyer beware that he might do the same thing in his new city if/when he gets a stick up butt at some point in the future.
-Mike Florio
man, da@mn
ReplyDeleteIt's true, there is video to prove it, the moreno report is just speculation, it's not for sure though.
ReplyDelete80, orange crush is my cousin. He said no go on the trade.
there is a new article on cutler cussing out his rookie WR too, check it!

Im telling you, if we dont do well this week. My expectations of this team will really drop. All we proved this preseason is that we still suck at D and the offense got worse.
ReplyDeletei havent given up yet on a winning season. Our D just needs to mesh to together, and orton just needs to be comfortable and a be game manager making smart decisions.
ReplyDeletesent trade request Chris. I think im going to hit the sack now, good night, i think.
ReplyDeleteI agree with 80. preseason means nothing.
ReplyDeleteThey had Marshall live on NFL live a few minuts ago and he said he was frustrated by the way the meeting went with ownership earlier the day so his emotions got the better of him during the practice. he apologized and said he is looking for a fresh start and to get this all behind him. the question is will that fresh start be in a Broncos uniform.
80, sorry bud, had to say no. you have no players of my interest.
ReplyDeleteits quiet...everyone is back in school...besides me. GWWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice having not to worry about school work or anything.
BMarsh is suspended. Story at NFL.com

Finally.
ReplyDeleteOh, and just because its preseason, the teamis suppossede to play crappy? SO as soon as week 1 rolls around we will have everything perfect?
ReplyDeleteWhat was our record in the preseason when we went to the play-offs in '05?
We cant expect our team to play to perfection in september, just because the games count.
I almost forgot: GO BRONCOS!!!!! KICK SOME BEAR BOO-TAY!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMarshall suspended. team won't say how long or when the suspension will take place. I just hope they tak a chuck out of his paycheck so he realizes $2 mil. a year is a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteFlorio, the team doesn't play crappy. we're aren't calling the plays we would in a game situation. we're not blitzing as much as we would in a regular season game. the preseason is to get an idea of what you are getting in a certain player. you can't judge a team by how they play in the preseason.
ReplyDeleteSuspension is until September 5th, which including today is 8 days. I wonder how much coin he'll lose.
ReplyDeletePeople keep pulling this preseason doesn't matter card. If we start losing in the regular season, you have nothing to hide behind.
