The Broncos play the 49ers in they first preseason game on friday this week. The teams have only faced off against each other a few times with the Broncos having a 2-3 record in that department. This game will kick off the 2009 season for the Broncos and I hope it is a good season for them this year.
There are a number of questions that will be asked in this game of a lot of the players. For example, can Orton play, what about our Defense, do we have a pass rush. These things will be watched closely by the fans and the coaching staff. This game also sees Ronnie Fields play against his former club. And Mike Nolan up against his former team that let him go. I except these two to have big games for the Broncos and show the 49ers what they are missing.
A big thing to watch will be the positional battles and who performs the best. I am going to be keeping a close eye on the Running Backs as Knowshon sees his first pro football game time and also how well Ryan Torain performs coming back from his injuries. The other two major position battles will be the Linebackers and the Defensive line. I want to see how much of a stud McBean is and also what Doom and Ayers can bring to the defense at their respective positions.
Are few quick things, Brandon Marshall will most likely be out with his hamstring injury and Brian Dawkins will also be out with his hand injury. I believe Wes Woodyard will also miss this game after not practicing so far this week but if he is good he may get a few reps.
UPDATE - Wes trained today but was still wearing the knee brace, so I am unsure whether he will play this week or not.
UPDATE - Ryan Harris has a shoulder injury which he suffered in today's practice and he may miss this weeks game and LaMont Jordan did not practice Monday because of an unspecified injury.
UPDATE 11/8/09 - Ryan Harris practiced today after suffering the shoulder injury yesterday, he seems set to play against the 49ers.
UPDATE NFL.com - 1. Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno: Moreno is currently behind veteran RB Correll Buckhalter on the team's depth chart. But NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Moreno's explosiveness has impressed many in Broncos' camp.
2. Broncos QB Kyle Orton: La Canfora also reports that Orton has not been impressive in camp so far. The Broncos fans -- who already jeered Orton during practice -- will be out for blood if Orton struggles again.
Match Ups to watch:Knowshon Moreno vs Patrick Willis, I hope Knowshon runs by him all day. If Moreno has a good day against one of the very best defenders in the game it will set him up for a good season.
Frank Gore vs Broncos D-Line, I hope that the Broncos D-Line and even the Linebackers can keep Gore under control. Because if he runs all over us it could be bad sign for the future.
My prediction Broncos win 30-14.
Thats my take on this weeks game - Aussie out
Cool pic. Did you create that Aussie?
ReplyDeleteOh, and First. Owned
that is a cool pic.
ReplyDeleteyeah nice pic.
ReplyDeleteHey do you guys know whats going on with Woodyard?
ReplyDeletehurt feelings.
ReplyDeleteDepth Chart released
ReplyDeleteIt looked to me like Bmarsh is second string to the second receiver spot.
ReplyDelete(non slot spot)
B marsh is second string, Wes is coming off surgey and yes I created that image.
ReplyDeleteTony Dungy has said Vick will be signed before the end of training Camp, but by who?
ReplyDeletegot lots of news, Buchalter is listed as our # 1 back right now, Bailey is back to his regular form, had 2 picks yesterday, Marshall is on 2nd string O, Phonzy will handle KR and PR duties this year, and Mario Haggan was promoted to # 1 defnse today replacing Reid and Crowder, so as of now the starting D looks like this:
ReplyDeleteNT Fields
DE Peterson
DE McBean
OLB Haggan
ILB Andre Davis
ILB DJ Williams
OLB Dumervil
CB Bailey
CB Goodman
S Hill
S Bruton
nickel back Jack Williams
dime back Phonzy
pass situations: Ayers in for Haggan
anyone?
ReplyDeletehey 80
ReplyDeletehey Digger, how you doing man?
ReplyDeleteNot bad.Yourself?
ReplyDeletealright, got back from my first fall football practice about an hour or 2 ago, but i couldnt practice because i tore a hamstring last week. ill be out for about a month, pretty bummed out.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to think about the RB depth chart. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteMan, that sucks. They take forever to heal properly too. As soon as you think you can go usually you reinjure it.
ReplyDeleteYeah dude that sucks about the hamstring, I don't know what to think of the RB I thought torain had been doing really well, I guess they want to see what he can do during the preseason.
ReplyDeleteWell he will have to prove his worth behind the backups now.
ReplyDeleteI think he will get alot of carries in this upcoming game, Bucky will take the first and maybe second series, then Knowshon, and torian will probably get the whole second half, jordon will probably take care of all the goalline duties.
ReplyDeleteYeah, actually that is what happend, i injured it last month and just didnt go to the doctor, waited about a month to run on it and when i started to do sprints for summer workouts last week i reinjured it and went to the doctor. They say it will take about two months to heal, but i am just praying it will take about a month.
ReplyDeleteIm not sure about the RBs they will all play about equally i think, between Bucky, Jordan, Moreno, Torain, Hillis, and Walker.
ReplyDeleteProbably it will be a good game.
ReplyDeletewered you guys go?
ReplyDeleteoh there you are, yeah it should be good. Cant wait to see the broncos in action. Hey what time is it were you are Aussie?
ReplyDelete1:32pm Just after lunch, and yeah I can't wait for the game it will be awesome!
ReplyDeleteman its a big time difference from here its 9:30 at night here.
ReplyDeleteWant to know another thing it is Tuesday here, so I am techincal in the future.
ReplyDeletepromoted to what do you guys think of Mario Haggan being 1st team Defense today replacing Reid?
ReplyDeleteOOPS worded that wrong, im tired, meant to say what do you guys think of Mario Haggan being promoted to 1 team Defense replacing Reid?
ReplyDeleteI think Reid, Ayers and Crowder must not have been performing in Training Camp, and they are in the doghouse. I execpt Haggan to be beaten out by these guys and then cut to make the 53 man roster.
ReplyDeleteYeah I got what you meant
ReplyDeleteMcdaniels said the depthchart will be fluid and change often. I got my brother to join the fantasy league. He's a hard core broncos fan too, 15 years old, plays high school football.... in new mexico. This is gonna be fun. I told him to join the blog too, but i dont think he has yet.
ReplyDeletehey aussie are you flyingspidermonkeys! on the FF.
ReplyDeletewhat school does he play for because i dont know if you remember but im 15 and play high school football also in Rio Rancho. i will be playing for Cleveland High, its the new high school opening up this year. We might play each other.
ReplyDeleteso your brother is flyingspidermonkeys!
ReplyDeleteHey that is cool, no I haven't joined yet, will do shortly.
ReplyDeleteHe plays for highland high. He's pretty good too. I think the last time i checked he played wr/te and safety
ReplyDeletei think that is my brothers ff, he is random like that, so i would say thats him
ReplyDeleteClevelend doesnt play Highland this year. I play WR also. so hes like a inside reciver that blocks and catches passes, essentially a TE.
ReplyDeletehe switches from te to wr, at least he did last year. I don't know, you would have to ask him if he signs up
ReplyDeleteyou should Cleveland high, its the biggest high school in NM now. Its as big as a college campus. Its so sweet, the turf on the stadium is electric blue.
ReplyDeleteis he going to be a sofmore this year?
ReplyDeletei think so, that sounds about right, we hang out once a week. I should know these things, haha.
ReplyDeletesame here. So do guys think Mcdenver will go by RB comittee or just one back to carry the load, i personally think it will just be Moreno carrying the load this season. Oh and Bucky is outplaying Lamont Jordan. So how do you think the depth chart will play out, were do you see Torain?
ReplyDeletewell, i am off too bed, my legs are aching after 2.5 hours of racketball. I will catch up with you all later.
ReplyDeletealright laters Jazzy
ReplyDeleteanyone there?
ReplyDeleteAnyone there?
ReplyDeleteOk I am all set up in the Fantasy League.
ReplyDeletecool Aussie, oh and Ryan Harris shoulder injury is nothing serious, and he is back at practice today.
ReplyDeleteMoreno and Bucky split carries for the first team offense today.
ReplyDeleteThanks #80 I posted the update. How about those hair dos at training camp.
ReplyDeleteWow it is like a ghost town here.
ReplyDeleteI'm back. was gone yesterday.
ReplyDeleteTheres my blind friend whats been happening?
ReplyDeleteyesterday, I was smoking marijuana, picked up hookers, mugged people on the street, did a drive by, smoked some more marijuana, party at a bar, got in the fight at the bar, killed a man, and then smoked some more marijuana.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good day, save some hash for your Aussie friend, have you check out todays blog, the rookies haircuts are so funny.
ReplyDeleteYa I checked that out. Blakes is my favorite. LMAO.
ReplyDeleteToms makes him look like an old man it was too funny.
ReplyDeleteTom's was pretty funny also. wacha been doin Aussie?
ReplyDeleteNothing, chilling at work not doing much, what about you? Did you get anyway with that Girl you meet at the Cheerleadering thing.
ReplyDeletenope, not yet, shes in Hawaii. on a more serious note, I was actually in Oakland. that's why I was gone.
ReplyDeleteOk hang in there trooper haha, in Oakland that explains the drive by and fight in the bar and you killed a man, probably was a faider. Why were you there, family, holiday(to oakland is a bit random)?
ReplyDeletemy friend had to go their to go to the doctor to get his feet checked out. then we went to the mall.
ReplyDeleteWhy did you go with your friend with him to his doctor in Oakland that is a bit random, did you want to go shopping together. Do they have a good mall in Oakland?
ReplyDeletehe just invited a bunch of people so we would be able to hang at the mall after. they have a pretty good mall.
ReplyDeleteOh ok that makes more sense, but the Doctor thing is a bit random, Dr Chris going to the Docs.
ReplyDeleteyea I told him I could heal his feet. all I need is a butter knife and BBQ fork.
ReplyDeleteDoc I bet he didn't go for that.
ReplyDeleteit was more his mom didn't go for it. But I can heal anything. I can perform surgery with a rock and a spoon.
ReplyDeleteHaha yeah I bet she didn't, but surgery with a rock and spoon, how do you get through the bone? And what about infections.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do my work it is a very gross, disgusting, and bloddy process. It involves a lot of concentration.
ReplyDeleteThat is so gross, I can imagine you in the garage with a tarp down going to work.
ReplyDeletethats how I do it. the garage tool box has all the tools I need. The worst surgery is when I have to deal with a seriously infected body part. I have to lift the person on to the chop saw, then I have to cut the infected body part off the person with the chop saw. it's very messy, but it gets the job done.
ReplyDeleteOh that is wrong, all the little children reading this have left because you scared them.
ReplyDeleteits alright, they shouldnt be scared, I don't usually do humans. I only do animals.
ReplyDeleteAgain so very wrong.
ReplyDeletewell I gotta go, later Aussie.
ReplyDeleteSee ya Doc
ReplyDeleteIm back for a little. anyone on?
ReplyDeleteI am here.
ReplyDeleteI know you're here. why'd I even ask. you're here mon.-fri. 8:30-5:30.
ReplyDeletewell gotta go now. laater
ReplyDeleteSee ya Doc
ReplyDeleteJosh Mcdaniels has said that Brandon Stokley will play the Wes Welker role in his offense, and not Royal. Right now Royal is the # 1 reciever, Gaffney #2, and Stokley # 3, if and when Marshall gets better, marshall will become the #1 and Gaffney will be moved to the #4 receiver with Royal at # 2 and Stokley #3. Also Lamont Jordan has been not practicing the last few practices for an unknown leg injury.
ReplyDeleteJust saw that Moreno will start the preseason opener.

80, thanks for the upates.
ReplyDeleteno problem
ReplyDeleteBroncos have signed RB Marcus Thomas formely of the Browns, I have no clue why. We have a good RB core already.
ReplyDeletehttp://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2009/08/12/broncos-another-marcus-thomas/
