Ok, I know it wasn't what we wanted. we had a lot of injuries. Hillis, Royal, Gaffney, Kuper Orton, and a few other. but from what I heard, with the exception of Gaffney, their all ok.
Lets start with defense. we have improved a lot. we're getting pressure on the quarterback and stopping the run. We held Forte, one of the premier backs in the league, to just barely over 2 yards per carry. The problems I see with our defense are we can't cover tight ends and runningbacks who come to the flat for a pass. I know Olsen made some great catches, but we could've had a lot better coverage on him. We also need turnovers. I don't think our starting D has picked off a pass yet. Overall, I give our defense a C. that's a good grade considering last year we were an F. We are an average defense. better than last year but still room for improvement.
Special Teams. Why do Denver punters always think they can punt to Devin Hester? I thought McDaniels was smart enough to know to not punt to Devin Hester. If I was a special teams coordinator, that would be my number one rule. don't kick it within a 20 yard radius of Devin Hester. overall, we get a D. that Hester reurn killed us but Kern placed it inside the 5 a few times. that's what kept me from giving them an F
Now time for the Offense. Orton looked good until the injury. keep in mind that his two most dangerous weapons were gone in Marshall and Moreno. Today showed how important they are in order for our Offense to succeed. Once we get Marshall and Moreno on the field, our offense will look good. Hillis looked good, as always. love how versatile he is. If he's healthy our offense is a lot better. penalties is what killed our O. we were put in 3rd and long to many times. limit mistakes and we will improve.

ReplyDeleteKyle Orton has a Open dislocation of his right index finger. The bone was dislocated which sliced through his finger from the outside causing it bleed. He is doubtful for week 1.
This means that the roster of opening-day rookie starting quarterbacks could include not only Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford, but also our very own sixth-round pick Tom Brandstater. (Unless Ingle Martin Makes a push. LOL LOL LOL make it stop!)
As far as I know, this will be the first time 3 rookie QBs will start the first game of the season. I also believe this is the first 6th round rookie QB to start his first game.
Stars arise from adversity and injury. Just look at Tom Brady.
On the bright side, Tom will be playing against a sub-par team in the Bengals and maybe even the Browns in week two. Who knows?
We should encourage Tom as he is probably scared/excited/freaked out at this opportunity.

ReplyDeleteBroncos coach Josh McDaniels squashed rumors today that the team is looking to trade suspended wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
"There is no discussions whatsoever taking place between Denver Broncos and any team in the National Football League regarding Brandon Marshall," McDaniels said. "We're looking forward to having Brandon back on the 6th of September and starting our (season-opening) preparation with him."
Marshall, who caught 206 passes over the past two seasons and was selected to last year's Pro Bowl, was suspended Friday for conduct detrimental to the team. His suspension goes through the end of the preseason. The suspension is scheduled to be lifted Sept. 6.
There have been reports today that the New York Jets are interested in obtaining Marshall.

ReplyDeleteI used to have 8 classes in high school, divided up into 2 days (4 on each day) and then I had soccer practice every spring. All that put together was never as much work as this one class is right now. Insane, right? lol
i have 7 classes plus lunch at school everyday, but its kinda cool because i really only have 5 classes. My 1 period is sports team, which is with my football coach and 2 peroid is weight lifting with my football coach, so my first 2 periods is football, and then i have my 5 regular classes, english, history, math, science, and spanish. And whats the matter Florio?

ReplyDeleteActually sometimes I do miss high school but I don't miss all the drama caused by teenagers, haha. I had to end alot of friendships based on drama but some of my classes were really fun to have. My senior year I took psychology... so much fun!! One day all we had to do to earn an A on one project was show up to class in our PJs with a pillow or blanket... we went to the stinky wrestling room where they have practice (that was the not so fun part) and all we had to do was see if we could fall asleep after having been awake for a few hours. It related to the subject and it was fun. None of us could fall asleep so we all just giggled at how bad the wrestling room smelled. Too funny! Ah, yes... high school was fun.

Got that right 80. Our defense improved greatly this whole offseason. That side of the ball should be a whole new story than it was last year. I love what I've seen so far from our defense... we just need to get a good turnover rate going. And I am so excited for Dawkins to razz on the QBs this season. Gonna be great!

ReplyDeleteWell. As most of you know, I'm on a high school team. I love the sport of football more than anything else. I'm an avid fan of the broncos, I work with Football plays for a job, I coach a youth team and now, I play Highscool ball.
ReplyDeleteIn the 8th grade, (my first year of tackle) I only played two weeks (practice only, no games) When I got a concussion and whip lash and was then unable to play a game. Since then I've had neck problems and have been unable to play. In the last six months, I've been cleared to play. So I found a team, for my last year of eligability, My senior year.
I started practicing last tuesday, and i was so happy i had the chance to play. But then last wednesday I injured my hip. I thought it was just sore and i shook it off. I continued to practice, even though i had a limp. I wasn't able to play to my best ability and played poorly. I tried to stay tough and show that I had guts, by still practicing. I thought i was just sore and nothing serious happened.
Yesterday, was running a drill. I was the ball carrier and sprinted through a hole, when i heard a pop in my hip. I fell down in pain. I couldn't move for a good five minutes and finally a golf cart had to pick me up. So I went to the Doc today. The news wasn't great. The Doc said I tore a hip tendon completely off. He said is unlikely that I'll be able to play this year. So my last season, I'll be on the sidelines.

I am still here, but i will be going to bed pretty soon. I have a meeting to be at @530AM tomorrow morning. So I have to get up @445 just to have time to make my lunch for work.

ReplyDeletesorry Florio, princess, I've never broken a bone either. I played 5 years of football and only missed one game. I injured my groin at the very last practice of the season so I missed the last game. the groin kept me out for about a month so I was lucky it didn't happen earlier in the season. All I can tell you Florio is drink some milk bud. hope you get good news at the doctor tomorrow
