Well guys after a slow previous few days the Broncos went big on day 5 of Free Agency. And when I say big, I mean they went BIG! They signed two more Defensive Lineman and both bring some added beef to the line. The Broncos signed NT Jamal Williams from the Chargers to a 3 year deal. Williams is a massive addition for us, he is a big legitimate NT for the Broncos and well help the D-Line. Williams is 6'3 and around 350 pounds depending on what he had for lunch. The only thing that is a problem with Williams is his age and injuries. Williams missed most of last season only playing in the opening game of the year and he has had knee problems in the past. All that and he is 34 (in April). But even with all that in a rotation he could be very useful.
The Broncos also signed Jarvis Green formally from the Patriots. The 31-year-old Green, at 6-feet-3, 285 pounds, played eight seasons for the Patriots. Green was known as the super sub in New England and was very productive for a backup, but more will be asked from him when he joins the Broncos. He may have a starting role but who knows. He again is a little older than normal but will be a solid addition and has improved our group greatly. He was signed to a 4 year deal.
With this additions it looks like McD is building a team for now, not the future, he wants to win a Superbowl and soon. I have been saying he has a 3 year plan, this being the second, he will throw it all on the line next year for the Superbowl, that is what I think anyway.
Also kicker Matt Prater was resigned, he is a solid kicker and can be all pro. He is a very talented kicker and will be here a while. Also I have heard that his deal is for like a minimum salary so it means he comes cheap, not like the raiders kicker.
So is a good day for the Broncos today, I hope tomorrow holds even more, next some O-line would be great. Well that is it ~ Aussie Out.
