Marshall will report to camp. ( article from Denver Post )

Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall says he is committed to reporting to training camp on time. But that's about as much detail as he would spill about his future in Denver in an interview Thursday with the NFL Network.

Marshall, who requested a trade in June, said he would show up in Denver by July 27, the reporting date for rookies and injured veterans, rather than forfeit any of his salary. The Broncos could fine Marshall $15,888 per day that he fails to show up at Dove Valley. He already skipped the team's mandatory minicamp in June, allowing the Broncos to fine him up to $35,329.

"As of right now, I'm still under contract," Marshall said on the network's NFL Total Access show. "I have a wedding to prepare for, so I'm definitely going to show up. I'm not going to let them take no money."

Marshall, entering the final year of his four-year contract, holds little leverage in his quest to be traded from the Broncos. He is recovering from offseason hip surgery and has a history of off-field legal troubles that have already led to one NFL suspension. He would also forfeit his fourth year of service — leaving him an extra year away from unrestricted free agency — if he failed to show up at camp by Aug. 11.

But while Marshall made it clear he does not plan to hold out, he would not commit to a long-term future in Denver and would not discuss his reasons for wanting a trade. "It wouldn't be fair for me to sit up here and bash the organization and say things that we've been trying to keep behind closed doors," Marshall said.

Marshall has been one of the league's most productive receivers the past two seasons, with 206 receptions, 2,590 yards and 13 touchdowns. After making the Pro Bowl last season, Marshall will earn $2.198 million this year under his current contract, signed as a rookie in 2006. According to a USA Today study, 52 receivers in the NFL made more than $2.2 million in 2008.

Marshall on Thursday said there was "more to it" than money, but refused to elaborate.

  2. I think he sucks as a human being!! Makes me nauseous just reading that. "uh well there's more to it than money but but uh I don't want to say what it is cause I don't want everyone thinking I'm all about the money even though I really am" Oh please, we all know you're a money hog Marshall... grrrrrrr he makes me so mad.

His stats are impressive but that's all there is to impressed about him. I just want to smack some sense into him. Argh!

  3. U guys want to read something that to me has value, not what jamie dukes said, here is a link to what John Lynch says about Marshall. This says it all for me. You can see the difference between a leader (Lynch) and a looser (brandon).

  6. Wow, that was a great read ATV fan. He did say it all, even about Cutler. This one paragraph he said about Marshall... brilliant!! "As I said, on the field, he's very comparable to a guy like Terrell Owens. He's that good of a player. But being a professional in my mind ... takes doing it on the field and off the field. You can't have all choir boys. I believe in first and second chances, but when you're talking about 13 or 14 ... I think at a certain point you've got to say this guy's got some issues that he's got to work out before you can trust him."

That couldn't be more true. And it should be fun to see Lynch be a TV analyst this season. Seriously love that guy!!! Need to put up a picture of him!

  8. Trust is a two way street and I do believe McD was so enticed by Cassel he did some backstabbing and cutler who had some growing up to do like Lynch said couldnt get over it and for somewhat good reason. ended badly, we move on.

As for Marshall, I don't agree with Lynch, while saying people tried to paint cutler as a bad guy he is doing that with brandon. I dont know Brandon Marshall personally so all I say is speculation. I think who is a good guy, who just doesn't know how to stay out of bad situations. If he was all about the green, he woulda been asked for a new contract since his first break out year. DID U SEE THAT, 52 recievers in the NFL made more than 2.2. Im pretty sure , BMarsh isnt the 53 best receiver in the league.

Bottom line I think he is with us for this year. His off the field issues give him no trade value. We would get chump change for him, because teams will say JUST IN CASE. Depending on how this year goes, he might stay with us or go. Would you prefer if he had said "I WILL BE A BRONCO" and ended up being traded and looking like a liar. His Ideal situation would be out of denver but I dont think he will mind playing here.

He is selfish, (like most NFL players, Rod Smith is a dime a dozen) If you think he is coming back to avoid losing money, thats not the case. He is coming back so he doesnt have to sit out a season which would affect his records and his chances of proving he is the sh*t cuz he is his number 1 admirer. thats my opinion.

PS: NOOOOOOOO BRING MARSHALL PIC BACK :-(. He and eddie royal are the inspiration for my name.

  9. Royal Beast you are the only one on thgis site who does not agree with Lynch, because I can clearly see what he is talking about, Willis. Yeah I did read were 52 receivers made mor than him, BUT what I wonder is of those 52 how many have been arrested more than he has. Also, the reason why he makes less is because he was drafted in the 4th round, also because he got in trouble in college.

  10. I admire yoyr loyalty to him, but he has no loyalty for our team. The organization has put up with his trouble for many years now, and now he thinbks the organization sucks. Wow. I just wish he had a mirror.

  12. By the way I have an NFL football signed by Marshall that I payed for the NFL auction with authenticity, and an autographed Rookie card (red- rare)authentic for sale $250 + s/h its yours. I don't want them even if he is on the team.

  13. Whats happening all, I am going to do some updates later today and tomorrowm, so if something screws up it is most likely me playing with the site. But got to go catch you guys probably tomorrow, most of you will be in bed when I am back this afternoon.

  14. He is something to admire on the field but it stops there with me. His attitude and actions off the field reflect how he's gonna be on the field... the reason why he's getting paid. I don't care for his smirky attitude... you can read it/sense it/feel it all in this article. He just seems so smug about everything and it doesn't sit well with me at all. The boy ruffles my feathers!! lol

  18. Well I like Marshall (on the field not so much off the field) and it would be nice if he would work things out and stay for awhile. Right now I would not be surprised if he is kind of forced to play for us this year and then chooses to move on next year. I think that McKinley will do well in our offense and could be a great replacement to Marshall
