Training Camp Update

From the Denver Post:

Veteran defensive players Champ Bailey, Marcus Thomas and Renaldo Hill made their 2009 practice debut this afternoon.

The three players had started training camp on the active-physically unable to perform list and missed both two-hour practices Friday. The trio was seen running sprints — and being timed — by the team's training staff Friday night. Bailey, the team's star left cornerback, and Hill, a safety, are projected starters in the secondary, while Thomas is competing for time on the defensive line.

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall is also back on the practice field, and smiling, after taking the Friday evening session off. He has written "Beast Ego" in black marker on the back of his white Broncos-issued shirt he is wearing under his shoulder pads and jersey.

With the return of Bailey, Hill and Thomas, the only notable players missing from the practice field are first-round draft picks Knowshon Moreno and Robert Ayers, who both remain unsigned.
Also in the buzz...
Despite ongoing dialogue, the Broncos did not have their two, first-round draft choices signed in time for the first day of training camp.
There's a good chance running back Knowshon Moreno and outside linebacker Robert Ayers won't be at this afternoon's practice, either, as there was little progress in negotiations Friday
"I think every day they miss hurts their opportunity to create a role on our team, or a bigger role on our team," Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said.
With Moreno out, second- year running back Ryan Torain performed exceptionally well in the morning practice. Torain missed all but two games last season with elbow and knee injuries.
"I'm trying to come out here and make a statement," Torain said. "There's definitely a lot of competition, and I'm just trying to work hard and play hard and have a good time doing it."
Dawkins visor.
Free safety Brian Dawkins has a new set of followers in Denver after playing his first 13 NFL seasons in Philadelphia. It seems the helmet visor he's worn since his days at Clemson is more about an occupational hazard than cosmetic reasons.

"There is light sensitivity a little bit and I get migraines," he said.
Getting there.
Linebacker D.J. Williams said he doesn't feel 100 percent yet from offseason shoulder surgery, but he's closing in.

"It's more of just working through it," Williams said. "I'm feeling all right, still getting the kinks out, trying to get back into the groove."

Williams had been a limited participant in some of the team's minicamp work, but took part in all drills Friday, working at inside linebacker.
Shorn Scheffler.
Tight end Tony Scheffler showed up to training camp with his hair trimmed down to the nub.
"It's in honor of Chad Mustard," Scheffler said.

Mustard was the Broncos' off-again, on-again reserve tight end who retired and is now teaching and coaching at an Omaha high school.
Depth chart.
LaMont Jordan and Correll Buckhalter alternated reps at running back with the first-string offense. With left cornerback Champ Bailey and strong safety Renaldo Hill not physically ready to start camp, Jack Williams and Alphonso Smith replaced Bailey, and Vernon Fox and Darcel McBath shared Hill's position. During nickel situations, Wesley Woodyard replaced Andra Davis at inside linebacker

  10. Hey gang, I'm baaaack. Dee Dee, Dee Dee, Dee Dee. Funny picture Torain, cracked me up.

Well, I'm feeling better, so tomorrow I'll do a piece on the coaches.

I read they signed Cushing. He was #15 in the draft. I don't see what the hangup is? 15, 16, 17 have been signed. Is it Bowlen and Xanders being penny pinchers or is it Ayers and his agent being stupid and greedy? Makes you wonder? I think it's the agent. He handles Moreno as well. Hmmmm. If you want, I could always go to Colorado and "strong-arm" him, lol.

Agents are no better then lawyers. They don't care about anything except their own pocket.

Woodyard is getting moved around. Good, makes him more valuable.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Woah, i guess i was gone for a little bit more than 10 minutes, sorry

    ReplyDelete
  12. yeah, i knew Woodayard, coudlnt stay off the field, hes to good.

  13. BREAKING NEWS BREAKING NEWS:

Broncos OLB/DE Jarvis Moss has left training camp and is reportedly considering retirement.
KDVR-TV in Denver is reporting that Moss doesn't know if he wants to play football anymore. Coach Josh McDaniels confirmed that Moss has left Broncos training camp for "a very personal reason." He offered no timetable for Moss to return to the team.

This was on rotoworld.com, and is surprising to me.

  14. LOL, yeah I think Dave is feeling much better! haha I always think is the agent... like you said they always want to make sure they get their cut.

Yeah was more like 30 minutes #80... you are a punk!! LOL Ok I'll stop now. Think its my ice cream talking... getting wired over here. Or it could be I'm just thrilled I found one of dad's old buddies yesterday and I'm sitting on cloud 9. hmmm, I think its both... the sugar and my excitement talking. hahahaha, alright I'll shut up now.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Whoa, that came out of nowhere!! Hope everything is alright with Moss. Probably something with his family.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah motor mouth, rest it, ha, ha. I am surprised if that's it about Moss. Maybe he didn't feel he had a good shot at making the team? I did say he's on the bubble, IMO. I just hope it's not true and he's a quitter? Nic Clemons got carried off the field. Hope it's not serious?

    ReplyDelete
  18. sorry Dave, im still not getting the hang of this link thing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. motor mouth???? Oh no you didn't!! I can't stop laughing, can't believe you said that!! Now you asked for it!!

The warden threw a party in the county jail
The prison band was there and began to wail
The band was a jumpin’ & the joint began to swing
You should’ve heard those knocked out jail birds sing
    Let’s rock, everybody, let’s rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancing to the jailhouse rock

haha, wow that song came out of nowhere.

    ReplyDelete
  20. whered you hear about Nic Clemons Dave?

    ReplyDelete

I heard about that too, on the DP and DB.com They have the Day 2 blog up now.

    ReplyDelete
  23. why are you so hyper?

    ReplyDelete
  24. On DB.com live interview with McD. I'm in the middle of cooking spaghetti noodles so I'm on and off.

    ReplyDelete
  25. She eats toooo much sugar, Caleb.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You must've skipped the part where I said I'm eating ice cream!! That's why. And yesterday, I had a very random impulse to find one of my dad's old buddies who I grew up around and haven't seen him since we moved out here. And its been 4 years since I've talked to him. So I googled him, haha, and was able to get his number. So I'm also excited I got in contact with him. I'm just one happy camper, that's all. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  27. What's wrong with the linking? Where do you have the trouble?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I wouldn't say I eat toooo much sugar but even the smallest amounts get me hyper.

    ReplyDelete
  29. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Forge that Idea. My linking is correct so that when I copied and pasted the email instuctions I sent you and put thenm in the comment section of the blog, it worked and didn't show you what I did (as in the email). It only showed the finished product. Sorry. You'll have to re read my email and apply it in an article and check preview to see if it worked.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Meant "Forget that idea." DOH!

    ReplyDelete
  32. first game is next Sunday, Hall of Fame game. Bills vs. Titans. I say Bills for upset.

  34. Did you guys hear about the rodent in a Diet Pepsi can, i dont think ill drink Pepsi again.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh yeah, heard about that one. If I were to drink it, I'd stick with the bottles, not the cans.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't make picks in preseason games. Too many intangibles (rookies) that can make or break a team. I don't bet on preaseason games either.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Meant preseason. Darn, my typing stinks today.

    ReplyDelete

  41. I'm good, surfing the Bronco sites.

    ReplyDelete
  42. hey Dave, what are the main sites you go to for news, ect.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have several. Espm, NFL Network, DB.com, Denver Post, NFL Rumors, USA Today, Bleacher Report (where I also write). I will be looking for more sites and closer "sources" as the season gets closer. That will be a plus for me when I start writing for Fan Huddle.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Also use Wiki for info/bios on players (history)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Need to go get ice cream, be back in a few.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  58. Earlier today i was watching the top 10 dunks, blocks, and assists from last year basketball season, and you have to see the #1 block, its with Chris Anderson from the Nuggets. Sick block.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Alright I'm done having my fun. Have to get this sugar out of my system somehow. What you don't like my singing? How rude.

    ReplyDelete
  60. ok im back Princess

    ReplyDelete
  61. So now we're talking about basketball?? Oh boy, then don't mind me, maybe I will start singing again.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wonder were Doc is?

    ReplyDelete
  63. #80 has returned, dun dun dun!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yeah, Birdman is awesome. He just signed a new contract with the Nuggets.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Sonny and Cher., explain

    ReplyDelete

    Tooty fruity, oh rudy
    A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo

hahaha, alright I'm done... for now

    ReplyDelete
  73. what song was that you just sang?

    ReplyDelete
  74. That's "Tooty fruity ON Rudy", not OH Rudy. Kids, Sheesh! Ha, ha.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Sonny and Cher is what she was singing when she said, "I got you babe."

    ReplyDelete
  76. sorry, never heard that song, must be some thing from the anceint days when you were alive.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Caleb, did you ever watch the movie "Groundhog Day?"

    ReplyDelete
  78. oh, its a song, never heard of that either, it must be a old eople thing. JK

    ReplyDelete
  79. I wasn't trying to sing Sonny & Cher, I just added in the babe part and then it hit me it sounded like that song they sang.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Nope, not that i can remember.

    ReplyDelete
  81. You better watch it dude... he's gonna karate chop you!!! hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  82. i know, he will to, he'll track me down amd get me.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Groundhog Day with Bill Murray, the guy from Ghostbusters. He wakes up in the town of Puksatony and it's Groundhog Day each day. He relives the same day (except he can interact within it and change things). Hilarious movie. One of my favorite comedies. I know you're only 16 but what, do you live in a box?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Glad you know what mess you're getting into ahead of time. He might take it easy on you though if you beg for forgiveness... maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Naw, too many other fish to fry. Besides, you're a Broncos fan,. It would be like cutting of one of my own arms, ha, ha.

    ReplyDelete
  86. i dont think ive got him ticked off yet, i better stay cool.

    ReplyDelete
  87. yep your like a brotha from another motha.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Not that ticked off but you're near the edge of the cliff. But since you are a Bronco fan like he said, he might be more lenient.

    ReplyDelete
  89. YAY im safe

    ReplyDelete
  90. So what are we gonna talk about to stop me from singing and #80 from going on and on and on and on about basketball. haha

    ReplyDelete
  91. We were both wrong. It's Tutti Frutti, Oh Rudy

    ReplyDelete
  92. Not that safe, I still have to run you down for talking about basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  93. um, how about we talk about how good looking i am. well start with my feet and move up. OK, so ill let you guys take the first crack at it since yuor my friends. This is a big treat, make the most of it. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  94. See I was looking at the lyrics when I typed it and it said, Oh rudy but I totally spaced out spelling Tutti Frutti that way. Kids, sheesh!! hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  95. Caleb, do yourself a favor, rent Groundhog Day. You will laugh your butt off. Also rent "Slap Shot" with Paul Newman. Hockey comedy that is one of the funniest sports comedies ever made. Have you seen it, Ash? I laughed so hard my eyes were watering.

    ReplyDelete
  96. ill check it out

    ReplyDelete
  97. That was random #80. I don't like feet, they smell no matter how many times you wash them. But I will say mine are the weirdest feet I've ever seen. I range in shoe size anywhere from 7-10 depending on the shoe. I have tennis shoes from high school that are size 10 but most of my flip flops are around 7 or 8.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I don't really care how good looking a guy is Caleb. Not my priority. Besides, you don't have to have looks to get the chicks. Look at me, I'm so ugly I could put my face in batter and make gorilla cookies, but the women still love me. It's all about how you carry yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I've never seen Slap Shot, in fact never heard of it but I have seen Groundhog Day. Funny movie.

    ReplyDelete
  100. anyways i gotta go now so ill talk to you guys tomorrow. Good night.

    ReplyDelete
  101. No, Ash, my neighbors daughter and son, back in the early 80's, had the weirdest feet. Their toes were webbed. Happens every other generation. She was a cutie, too. My friends wanted to know what it would be like to "make it" with a duck? I know, crude, but they were saying it. She was drop dead gorgeous and had webbed feet.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Laters Caleb. Night night.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Just you and me now babes. Can yuh handle it?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Night night #80.

Yeah I've heard of people having webbed feet. Sad people had to be that rude.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think so... after all you are my bodyguard. Should I be worried?

    ReplyDelete
  106. It's me, Ned. Ned Neamyer. Ned the head. Needlenose Ned. I did the belly button thing in the talent show. Got the shingles really bad in my senior year and almoist didn't graduate. BING.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Never worry when I'm around. I was raised by a decent mother and respect women.

As for Neiva, she had no problems getting guys. We would have never known about her feet but she wanted to show them to me and my roommate.

    ReplyDelete
  108. A little Groundhog Day talk....

    ReplyDelete
  109. So how did other people find out? Did she want to tell them too or just a select few?

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'm a little spacey right now and barely remember the movie... I just remember laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  111. No everyone saw it. We used to have kegs at the house and she came over from across the street. I had to finally tell her to stop coming over. She was only 16 and her boyfriend was 18. She would come over when he wasn't around and play games with guys. Got them PO'd. She was trying to hit on me all the time and I wasn't playing. Too young. Plus, I was dating a gal my age (23) named Barbara. She was trouble. Her mother was always threatening to call the cops. She would come over, start drinking beer. Some guy would hit on her (she WAS gorgeous, as I said) and she would bolt. Leave the party for an hour and then come back. I finally told her (I hated to be mean, but it was necessary) that she is too young to party with us. Told her the women here are our age and she is trouble. Man, she hated me after that.

    ReplyDelete
  112. The next morning after the parties (Sundays) during the football season, a select few would stay and we would cook a batch of homemade hamburger soup (delicious) and finish the keg and watch the Broncos play. Good memories.

    ReplyDelete
  113. That's too bad. Well I hate to do this, but I have to go up and say prayers with my mom. She wants to go to sleep for some reason, haha. I'll talk to you later.

    Night night Dave.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Sounds like you had a good time with her while it lasted though. Counts for something.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Hey guys, sorry I wasn't on the blog today, was hangin with some friends. princess, no youtube videos. thats gross. so whats my punishment? 5 lashes to the back, or, burning my hand on a grill?

  118. This is eating me alive not having Moreno and Ayers signed yet. I can't take it. Its driving me crazy. Grrr. The other first rounders are being signed. Come on.

    ReplyDelete
  119. For once we get two first rounders and they are not signed. Its going to be ok right? Just calm down. Breathe.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Oh come on. Another minute has passed and they still are not signed.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Please, please, please, just sign already. I'm getting sick to my stomach

    ReplyDelete
  122. That's what my singing is for Aussie, to entertain and make you laugh!! haha, but of course you're the only one who liked my singing... thank you very much!

And, it will be a total complete waste of our time if these 2 don't get signed soon. This is pathetic. haha, Let out the anger & frustration mrbroncofan, Let it out!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  141. Or maybe its just an excuse!! I seriously doubt saying "you know" every other 3 words has anything to do with your diabetes. Nice try

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  143. you know, gotta impress my man. you know.

  144. You know I got to thinking Doc, you should get Aussie or Dave to put up the schedule for the season, including preseason. Maybe add it above the poll. I was thinking put up one game at a time. Think that would be cool for when the games start.

    ReplyDelete
  145. see if Aussie knows hot to do it. tha would be cool. sorry I was gone, got back from McDonalds.

    bigmac...bigmac...bigmac...

    ReplyDelete
  146. Can't imagine it would be too hard. Just create a little box for it like the poll has and put the teams playing, date, time, venue. Then you could probably put the score up when the game is over.

    ReplyDelete

Ya best get ready 'cause I'm goin' on a binge here.
In the drive-thru 'cause I'm wantin' some food,
eatin' great, even late, I don't know what to choose.
Hamburgers or chicken, nuggets or fries.
Gimme one of each, and make it supersized.
Cookie dough Blast or a Classic Frosty,
make them small we don't want it too costy.
And lemme get some food I can save for later.
Give me a large Coke and a Baconator.
Won't be much longer, I'll get on with my order,
biggie-size my fries for an extra quarter.
Ya gettin' all this down? Don't wanna have to holla.
Give me a Double Stack 'cause they only a dolla.
I want some hot juicy meat, but that ain't gay,
'cause I'm talkin' about a Crispy Chicken Tender Fillet.
Holdin' up the line, I don't want to linger
give me a cup of chili without adding a finger.
And to drink, a Coke and a sweet tea.
Put it on my bill 'cause it's all for me, UH!

  159. That's what I've found out #80. Everyone is signing their first round picks EXCEPT us. Everyone said "don't worry, they'll get signed" yeah, uh huh, you wanna tell me don't worry now. Just saying if they don't get signed, what was the point of drafting 2 people in the first round that deserve to be signed. Still confused. Alright, now my frustration is out. Whew!!

  160. you wouldnt belive this, my older brother put a thing on my computer were i cant get on sports sites on the internet, but just the main ones, like nfl.com, DB.com, rotoworld.com. But any ways if you could give any new news updates when they pop up thad be cool. He says im obsesed with footabll. Hes an a@@ hole. So much for big brothers HUH.

  161. I wouldn't worry. I guarantee one of them will be signed by wednesday. preferably Ayers. if one of them isn't signed by Sunday, then we can worry.

  162. #80, my older brother thinks I'm obssesed with football also. but I also like basketball so he's cool with it. he's 6"10' and I'm 5"5', who could've guesses that. He loves basketball but never made it past college. the portland trailblazers invited him for a work out a few years ago but he wasn't good enough.

why did you're brother do that to you?

  165. pretty much just to be an a@@ hole. Hes doesnt like football that much and i think hes jealous of me because he was never as athletic as me when he was my age. He wasnt goo enough to play football or basketball and it think it annoys him because i like football so much. I play it, watch it, love it, what can i say its my passion.

  168. Nothing much, oh and princess for games I was thinking if you guys blog here we do a blog a quarter. That is if we can keep under 200 comments a quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  169. i like sayin goo. ha ha.........goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo, goo , goo, goo. its fun

    ReplyDelete
  170. that would be a good idea. but you're not even awake when the games start?

    ReplyDelete
  171. any ways im gunna go now, so my brother doesnt find out about this site, gotta delete my history to. Might be on tonight, not sure though, but laters

    ReplyDelete
  172. LOL, sounds like you're ga ga for goo #80!!! hahahahaha This is too funny.

I'm fine with a blog a quarter but when it gets close to mid season or maybe mid October I'm probably going to have so much homework it will be overwhelming so its possible someone may have to cover what I do if it gets to be too much for me to handle at once. I'm thinking it would be easier for one person to handle on quarter. For example, not saying this is how it should go just trying to be clear. Could be alot easier if say Dave covers 1st qtr, I take 2nd, Doc takes 3rd and then someone who's available could take the 4th.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Games are midday here, so I will be awake for them. Some games are really early morning for me like 6 but that is the earliest.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Dave goes to the bar for games.
