After eight days of a contract holdout Knowshon Moreno has finally signed a contract. The contract is for five years worth 23 million that includes a guarantee of nearly $13 million. Moreno is a running back from the University of Georgia selected by the Broncos with the No. 12 overall pick in the NFL draft. Moreno has now tied the longest rookie holdout since 1997, when Cory Dillard a fourth-round safety from Ball State, held out for eight days. Gillard wound up signing a three-year, $723,000 contract on the night of the Broncos' first preseason game. Shortly after Gillard was cut a few weeks later. That year the Broncos won their first superbowl in franchise history.
Look for Ryan Torain a second year player to challenge rookie Knowshon Moreno for carries this season. Ryan Torain was injured all throughout last years Broncos season and is being given a second chance to prove that he can be a successful running back in the NFL. So far Torain has been a complete stud in training camp running with the first team offense. Other running backs currently on the roster are Correll Buckhalter, Lamont Jordan, Darius Walker and FB Peyton Hillis.
Buckhalter is a pretty good veteran back that is an all around back, he can do it all. He has shown glimpses in training camp that he can be a solid veteran back up for the Broncos. Now Lamont Jordan has bounced around with a couple teams in the past couple years, formally with the Patriots last year. He has also had problems with lack of preparation and discipline in his previous years, but has come out and said that he is focused this season. Jordan is battling Buckhalter for a backup spot and goal line duties.
Darius Walker will probably be the odd man out of the Broncos roster this year seeing that he has not looked impressive in Denver. Peyton Hillis is currently penciled in at FB for the Broncos and that should not change unless by injury. Hillis will most likely see his share of carries this season seeing he has had a spectacular training camp. I expect Head Coach Josh McDaniels to keep 4 running backs this season and FB Peyton Hillis. Moreno, Torain, Buckhalter, and Jordan will most likely make the team with Walker getting cut.

There I read the crap that florio is spouting off. I won't come back to the blog to just tell florio to shut his mouth. I seriously don't like his bad mouthing me when I'm not there. If he would talk like that in person and call me a "baby" to my face, the only thing that would save him is the fact that he's 17. I don't appreciate him going online to the public and dissing me. ReplyDeleteI have the 2nd pick and I get S.Jackson, and follow it up with brady, owens, marshall, witten and I outscored everyone in the league, but I constantly was getting beat by teams putting up their best games of the season, I didn't make the playoffs by one game and the guy who won the division had 120 points less than me throughout the whole season.

ReplyDeleteRENO, Nev. -- A former coworker of Andrea McNulty, who has filed a civil suit against Ben Roethlisberger for alleged sexual assault, said the woman bragged about having been with the Steelers quarterback.
ReplyDeleteIn an affidavit filed Friday, former Harrah's employee Angela Antonetti said that Andrea McNulty never seemed "upset, stressed out or nervous" about what happened.
Later, Antonetti said McNulty told her she thought she might be pregnant by Roethlisberger and talked about going to Pittsburgh to try to "run into" him.
The lawyer for McNulty has given Roethlisberger more time to respond to the lawsuit.
Reno attorney Cal Dunlap said Roethlisberger's attorneys have until Aug. 21 to file their response.
McNulty worked as an executive VIP casino host at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. She said the quarterback lured her to his hotel room under false pretenses and raped her during a celebrity golf tournament last summer. She's seeking a minimum of $490,000 plus punitive damages.
The suit also names hotel officials as defendants.
On Friday, lawyers for two other defendants filed motions to move the case from Reno 50 miles south to Minden in Douglas County. They also filed a motion to challenge the judge randomly assigned to the case.
Neither Roethlisberger's attorney, David Cornwell, nor McNulty's attorney, Calvin Dunlap, were available for comment.

ReplyDeleteColstoc is the only WR in NO so he will be doubled. Crotchery is the only reciever in NY and we don't even know who's going to be throwing him the ball. Eddie Royal is an excellent pick up.
