Welcome to the Broncos, Robert Ayers!

Well my friends, the day has FINALLY come!

Robert Ayers has agreed to a deal with the Broncos and is expected to show up as early as today's afternoon practice.

The Broncos have reached an agreement on a five-year deal with first-round pick Robert Ayers this afternoon.

The No. 18 overall pick in the draft, Ayers is expected to sign his deal and be on the field in time for the 5:30 p.m. practice today.

The signing will end Ayers' 3 1/2 day holdout in which he missed the first six training camp workouts. A defensive end at the University of Tennessee, Ayers is expected to play outside linebacker for the Broncos.

The Broncos can now concentrate on negotiating with their other first-round pick, running back Knowshon Moreno, who was the No. 12 overall pick. Moreno will not be signed today, but there is hope he can reach an agreement in the next day or two.

More details to Ayers contract...

His contract includes a $9.7 million guarantee - a 16% increase from the $8.36 million guarantee Baltimore QB Joe Flacco received as the No. 18 pick last year.

Ayers reportedly spent his first afternoon of training camp working out on his own. He also ran through the team conditioning test prior to the Broncos 5:30 p.m. practice, then he headed off to the weight room as practice began.

  1. This is great news and a relief. Now lets get Moreno to camp. Driving me crazy!!!

  2. Yep, get that Moreno guy to camp already!! Sheesh!! Think I'm gonna flip a gasket if I have to wait till Wednesday... or worse... beyond!! Pfft!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Damn I hate these first rd draft picks! I reckon caps should be put in place.. it would solve all of this in a flash!

  4. morenos next

    ReplyDelete
  5. i hope they dont base Morenos salary off of crabtrees salary because Crabtree is lookin for top 5 pick money.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Glad to see ayers here. yo uwork fast Ashley. Already got a post up lol. Chances are very good Morenos will be based on crabtrees money cuz they are two draft picks apart. Gonna suck but pat bowlen has been known for having deep pockets so its doable and wont hurt us too much.

  7. In pricipal its rediculous. Its amazing how much importance is put on sport salaries.. Someone who would come to your resuce and even save your life gets peanut dustmites compared to the likes of NFL/NBA/MLB players... **sigh**

    ReplyDelete
  8. Totally agree Samoan... people who risk their lives for others and teachers get paid nothing and these rookies want a veteran's salary??? Are you kidding me? Sick if you ask me.

And yes I do work fast, haha. Couldn't contain my excitement about this... such a relief at least one of them got signed. We've waited too long. Expect another one when Moreno gets a deal... whenever that may be. At the rate they're going, might as well wait til Christmas! Just bugs me.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Moreno will probably hold out for a while but I hope not as long as Jamarcus Russell did, and he was well worth the wait **COUGH COUGH** lol

    ReplyDelete
  10. Thanks for the update Ash. I just got home and this was the 1st site I went to.

About time. But we still have Moreno out there. I know they will sign him eventually and that's going to be a tough decision for them in regards to NOT starting Torain. Ryan has been playing like a stud. I have no doubt, though, that they will keep Torain and use him oftem. Too much skill to sit him on the bench. Besides, Moreno will have missed a week of camp. A lot of catching up to do.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Tell me about it Samoan. I was in the military. Never was paid a huge salary. I didn't live on base so I wasn't getting my free chow. I had to pay my rent, etc., just like everybody else. I had to go to war or missions on several occasions while these prima donna's made all this cash. Don't get me wrong, I love football and think they should be paid a decent salary for throwing their bodies around and risking their knees and long term health, but what about the soldiers who have bullets ringing by their ears or get shot and sent back home, wounded and suffering with long term health problems or worse, being sent back home in a box? Somethings wrong with that.

  12. I need to go make dinner. Be back in awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  13. No problem Dave... love these kind of updates! haha

Can't wait till Moreno gets signed and only then will I be able to relax and just... chill.

    ReplyDelete
  14. wats up princess

    ReplyDelete
  15. gotta go now. maybe on later

    ReplyDelete
  16. There is something wrong with that Dave. Like you said, these athletes deserve to get paid for risking their health like that but ya know we have people like you who have served in the military and fight for our freedom and they're just barely making it. Its ridiculous. Then you have people like my dad who was a police officer and got paid like nothing, again risking their lives for the sake of their city, state & country. That's one thing I'll never understand.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Whats for dinner?? Im just about to shoot out for lunch.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi. Bye. LOL, man my timing is just impeccable isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I just ate dinner. Had some breakfast food for dinner, haha. So yummy. Eggs and toast.

    ReplyDelete

  35. Im back baby!!! (George Costanza).. Wowo interesting that he worked out on his own. Hopefully he hooks up with the rest of the team tomorrow.

Doc you have a FF list indicating some comebacks this season.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah, like Carson Palmer, LT, CB. I don't know about Sanchez. I expect interceptions his 1st year.

    ReplyDelete
  37. No Brady, Moss? SF? Really? Whats the rationale behind that one?

    ReplyDelete
  38. thats why I have him as a backup. he won't start for me unless Palmer gets hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Brady was taken. I chose Steve Smith over Moss. I chose SF defense for when NE plays a high powered offensive team.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dr Chris
Do not get me wrong!! I appreciate the invite to be a contributor but I am more the color commentary type poster then Author- Ha.
I will accept and maybe I will come up with a worthy article sometime. Ask DD I like to read and react more then be a writer of a subject. But you have now opened a door that I will give some though to. So be warned when the games begin I just might take you up on the invitation!! LOL

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  50. Well, dudes and dudette, I'm getting a migraine. I need to shut down for the night. I feel a little out of it. I think it's lingering affects from the flu bug and the quick weight loss (10 pounds). Laters.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thank you Princess! You saved me some time. You are over flowing with your kindness as a Princeess!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Awww Davey, lol... well lets hope that migraine goes away. Now Ashwey has a wittle sad face :(

    12. Gimme Some Lovin

    ReplyDelete
  62. seriously, my list would be similar to samoan. funny how I was singing sweet child of mine yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Doc I love #3 & #8 not a HUGE Jazz fan, but Jazz in general is pretty cool to listen too.

Mama's & Papa's to boot as well :) Is that the Blues Brothers at the end there?

    ReplyDelete
  64. samoan, looks like we have the same taste in music.

    ReplyDelete
  65. so does anybody have an update on the talks between Moreno and the Broncos?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Might as well make a list too...

I Can Only Imagine - MercyMe
Jesus, Take the Wheel - Carrie Underwood
God Bless The Broken Road - Rascal Flatts
    Jailhouse Rock - Elvis

Psh... I can't think of a 10th song. I usually go by the song not the artist on whether I like it or not. I can't pick and choose, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  67. All I know is Moreno should sign a deal by tomorrow or Wednesday. If nothing happens by then, I think I'll go ahead and lose my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've been around with my head hanging down... and I wonder, who's loving you!! lol great song BP! oops I mean Princess lol

    ReplyDelete
  69. I, I, I should have never, ever... Ever made you cry. It is a good song. That kid had some unbelievable talent. He just kills it on that song.

Yeah you better correct yourself, hahaha!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. princesss, instead of you loosing you're mind, I can kill his agent. but it will cost you some money...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Love the scoreboard you put up Aussie... looks GREAT!! Me and my genius ideas, haha.

Yeah I don't feel like paying you money Doc just so you can kill an agent & go to prison (cause you won't be able to hide the body very well and I will still rat you out). I'd rather lose my mind instead of paying for you to end up behind bars. LOL, I'll pass. You'll have to find someone else to help you with your dirty work.

Oh and just read on DP that Moreno has become the longest rookie holdout for the Broncos since Cory Gillard, whoever that is. hahaha This is making me sick to my stomach. For the love of cheese, sign a contract already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. nice job with the schedule Aussie. Did you fellers here the arena football league is declaring bankruptcy? I know it wasn't the NFL but it was pretty exciting to watch during the offseason. I'd rather have AFL then UFL.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Noticed on NFL.com that the four guys in front of Moreno have not signed yet either at least when they posted that. Hope we are not waiting for those guys to sign before Moreno. I just ate and am not looking to throw up.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yeah I checked that list yesterday mrbroncofan. There's quite a few people in front of Moreno with no contracts. I get a BAD feeling that's what's taking so long. This is pathetic. What a waste of time if we're not going to sign him in time to get in a decent practice at training camp. Beyond ridiculous!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. i think there waiting on Michael Crabtree, wich sucks cause hes lookin for top 5 pick money.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Well someone needs to lose their ego and stop asking for a veterans salary. This is so dumb.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Whatever happened to "the love of the game?" If I was a young rookie, I would say to hell with the agent. I went to college, right? I have some financial skills, right? I will negotiate my contract. I will make sure it's fair but not extreme. I want a SB ring, not just money.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Some people may disagree, but lookin back on the draft i dont think we should of passed on Orakpo for Moreno. Just read Orakpo lookin really good in camp and plus Torain is lookin like a stud outthere. I dont know just thinking about it, but whats done is done, cant change the past. We just need to get him signed really soon, hes missing valuable practice time. Who knows Moreno could sit on the bench this year and Torain could start, or maybe we could trade moreno well he still has value if Torain is the real deal.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Man i would die to make it to the NFL, it would be my dream, any money would be fine with me.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Torain is the real deal. But if he went down, who do we have? Hillis. But then we have to move Larsen to FB more often which may take him away from D more. Moreno is needed.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I would play in the NFL for free. I think we should've passed up on Moreno also. we have a lot of talent at running back. Mochael Jenkins would've been good. we shouldn't have traded for Phonzy, I would prefer a second first round pick next year.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Torain, Buckhalter, Jordan, probably would've kept Bell if we didn't draft Moreno. But Moreno is still a good pick.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Buckhalter or Jordan could step in for Torain if he gets hurt, preferably Bucky.

    ReplyDelete
  84. oh yeah and Bell just said yesterday that he still wants to play ball, he had some good runs last year in our last games. I wouldnt of mind keepin him.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Moreno would just make our offense even more explosive. We need him. I didn't see it at first, I really didn't like we drafted for offense first instead of helping out our D but like Dave said, we only have so many other choices if Torain goes down. Yeah we have Hillis and he's a beast but it changes the scheme of things. We are known for our running game, we need to get that back and with Moreno to back up Torain (at least that's how I'm seeing it with Moreno taking his time with the contract situtation), we could use a solid back up like him. I pray to God Torain stays healthy, would hate to see him go down with another injury. He's got too much talent to go out like that. Don't want to see him have to end his career like TD. He had a few more years left in him but he couldn't afford to. The more explosive our backups are to our starters, the more dangerous we'll be. We need to be a threat to other teams.

    ReplyDelete
  86. princess, we didn't draft Moreno in the first round to be a back up. he will start. Torain will back him up and probably will split carries at the beggining of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Not if Moreno holds out much longer, and Torain keeps killin it. Then i think moreno will sit for his first year.

    ReplyDelete
  88. ILB Nick Greisen is out for the season.

    http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2009/08/04/greisens-season-over/

    ReplyDelete
  89. you don't draft a first round running back for him to sit on the bench.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I know Doc, but the longer Moreno stays a holdout I can't imagine the coach letting start when he's missed almost a full week at training camp. I'm telling you the longer he waits to make a deal, the more its going to hurt him. And Torain is showing and proving he's worthy of starting. He has showed up to camp. He has been working his tail off. He's showing he's ready to start. Moreno is full of talent but he's not at camp and hasn't been for almost a week now. And as a rookie, that's a pretty bad first impression if you ask me. I don't see how McD will have any other choice to bench Moreno for the majority or all of his first year because he's missing practices that he should be at and would help him. He's only hurting himself.

    ReplyDelete
  91. he was a long shot to make the team. hope he recovers well.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yeah well you also don't draft a first round RB so he can become the longest rookie holdout.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Ok got two new updates, Broncos have signed LB Braxton Kelly and Jarvis Moss has returned to todays afternoon practice.

    http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2009/08/04/broncos-add-linebacker/

    ReplyDelete
  94. anybody out there?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Goodmorning one and all! :)

Hahaha man people still oing on about that? I was caught up in a heated argument with a Bolts fan and boy was he fired up. I told him then that would comeback in the last game and kill us anyway.. DOH!!! Reverse psychology didn't work.

    ReplyDelete
  96. im here, you still there, yeah saw that Ed Hoch. thing.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Rolf Harris where are you? lol

    ReplyDelete
  98. hey Samoan, ready for our FF football league?

    ReplyDelete
  99. hey princess.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Yeah man Im all fired up for it.

Hello Princess.. how does the evening greet thee? (I just watched Role Models last night lol)

    ReplyDelete
  101. you guys hear bout the news, we signed LB Braxton Kelly and Moss showed up for practice this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yep, I read it #80. I've been all over DP hoping for some good Moreno news.

Thy evening greeteth me just fineth. hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  103. Nope didn't see that. Other than MecDaniels saying Moss was away due to personal reasons, has there been any more news? I hope it not a Vince Young thing.

    Kelly an undrafted rookie?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Then may the nights events prove to be as prosperous as a summers harvest me lady! hahahah

    ReplyDelete
  105. it kinda was a Vince Young things, he was down because he was on the 3rd team in training camp and people were calling him a bust and stuff. He'll probably get cut.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Damn that spretty harsh. This guy was out due to injury and hasn't really been able to show the staff and fans what he's got to offer. Operating at less than 100% is tough work.. Welcome to the big time son...

    ReplyDelete
  107. LOL... have no clue what you said Samoan, but ok. haha

    ReplyDelete
  108. Hahahaha translation "Hope you are having a great night"

I was just reading that DP article on the Moreno hold out... How guttered would be if you were Cory Gillard?? I PITY THE FOOL!!! Then you get cut and the Broncos win the SB!!

A 4th round pick demaning more money... I doth believe he was ill advised.

    ReplyDelete
  109. have you guys heard that DHB is doing horrible in training camp and is dropping everything that comes his way. Man raiders are idiots for passing up on Crabtree and Maclin for a guy that can run .2 seconds faster. As long as Al Davis is at the helm, the raiders will have a top 10 pick evry year.

    ReplyDelete
  110. HAHAHAHA thats hilarious!!! Does Have Butterfingers!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. haha, thanks for the translation.

Haven't heard that one #80, but it sure as heck doesn't surprise me. Its the faiders... what did you expect... Greatness? HAHAHAHAHAHA

    ReplyDelete
  112. Oh and Chiefs Glenn Dorsey practiced for the first time today, because hes been trying to pass a conditioning test the past 5 days when everybody else had pasted it by the second day into training camp. That fata$$.

    ReplyDelete
  113. HA, this is interesing. I guess the Pats just signed ex-Raider QB Walter. Never pictured the Pats of all teams to take a player from the Black Hole. Is this the weirdest offseason or is it just me??

    ReplyDelete
  114. Dawkins left practice this afternoon with a trainer by his side, Vernon Fox replaced him in the #1 Defense. So much for you being all over DP today Princess, beat you again. I rule the world, STILL. HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/2009/08/04/dawkins-leaves-practice-field/

    ReplyDelete
  115. Actually I was on EPMS as Dave would say it. I'm waiting for the BIG news. Not that this isn't big... hope Dawkins is okay. I'll let you have your 15 minutes of fame. The big story will be all mine baby... ALL MINE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. well see princess who cracks the Moreno news first, we will see, as of now im the ruler. HAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA

    ReplyDelete
  117. LOL, this should be funny then. Do you even know how to do a new post (with a picture)??? hmmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  118. hey all we have to do is post it on this article, then you can create a new blog, but first we will see who puts on here first. Or if you want you can put a new blog up about the news right away, it will give me more time to beat you yo it.

    ReplyDelete
  119. A little humour from Onions.com - FOXBOROUGH, MA—Excitement surrounding the return of quarterback Tom Brady devolved into mute panic Thursday as each of Brady’s first 10 passes barely made it to the line of scrimmage. "Oh, God," said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, breaking the silence that fell across the assembled players, coaches, and legions of fans who had just witnessed Brady’s ninth pass flutter slowly from his limp hand and land between his own feet. "Who’s our backup? Does anyone know who our backup is?" When asked for comment, wide receiver Randy Moss said he doesn’t care how poorly Brady throws the ball as long at it rolls in his direction.

    ReplyDelete
  120. What up all, glad you like the new additions to the site, you guys are too funny, all over DP that is good. Thanks for all the news too, I didn't hear that about Dawkins hop he is ok.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I don't care who posts it on this article first, you can have that. I'm saying its mine to post as a new blog. I'm gonna getcha!! haha

    ReplyDelete
  122. Hey Aussie. Yeah the thing about Dawkins just got put up on DP not too long ago... they didn't say anything about it, just he walked off with a trainer. I'm sure he's fine, or he better be!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Ha ha ha Thats pretty funny Samoan.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I agree Samoan that is funny stuff

    ReplyDelete
  125. Brady - "THats how I roll!!" lol

    ReplyDelete
  126. Yes he is full of jokes but they're funny!! hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  127. Hahaha I had a coffee and savoury muffin for morning tea! Im wired for the day.

Moss is due to be at practice which is ggod news, I think it will do him some good to be around the new team and coaches.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Haha I know he is a funny guy, have they updated DB yet with information on todays training camp?

    ReplyDelete
  129. I want to see moss work hard and work his way up the depth chart. He is a big guy with talent would be waste to see him go without trying.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Coffee huh? Well that explains it! haha But this is nothing to this teacher I have. He takes one sip of coffee and man... he's all over the place. He gets so wired and hyper, too funny. Nothin like good 'ol caffeine to make you go crazy! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  131. I haven't seen any updates on today's practice.

And yeah, I'd love to see Moss have a good camp. He owes it to himself to try.

  132. Maybe he should have some coffee.

Oh this reminded me of something, at one point here alot of rugby players were taking coffee pills so that they were or hyper and wired for games, does that happen at all over there?

    ReplyDelete
  133. lol I'm off to work conference tomorrow morning for 2 days and will have no internet access so I'll have to wait before finding out about Moreno.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Club players drink flat coke and lollies is a boost to the energy system.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Nice that raises the sugar levels in the body to help produce more enegry.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Later Samoan.

haha, maybe Moss should have some coffee... he could use a little boost of energy!!

  147. Lol I am still at work and will not be heading away away till tomorrow morning :)

    ReplyDelete
  148. Still samoan what is a gone-burger, is it similar saying to when fatty says 'gooonnneee!'

    ReplyDelete
  149. It sounded like he had to go pack or leave work or something. It was the way he wrote it, it sounded like he had to leave now to get ready to leave tomorrow. Good grief!!

    ReplyDelete
  150. Hahahaha I love that show!! You got it in one!!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Haha, how to words on a screen sound like something, he can't protray tone through the text. for example I just said that all in an asian accent.

    ReplyDelete
  152. No wonder!! I couldn't understand you Aussie, you sound like the asian from Swift and Shift couriers

    ReplyDelete
  153. Thought so samoan, it is a great show, but it has been slowly declining after sterlo left. Now with Cheif and matty gone it is to much football and not enough silly stuff. The silly stunts made that show and without them it just isn't as good, but I still watch, I am a devoted fan.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Haha and you sound like all the other fobs on that story, oh bro get me some fish and chips.

By the way I ain't asian in case that wasn't clear, that was a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Aussie, its just an expression saying "it sounded like..." Just like saying "that" doesn't sound good to eat... how does food sound good. Its just a saying. Now you got me all flustered!

    ReplyDelete
  156. I am just messing with you princess. I understand what you mean.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I agree, a mate of mine had the Best Of dvd and man it was soooooo (gay tone) funny!!! I haven't seen it for a while.. Crack a Fat.. and old Matty Johns and his Reg Reagan was the best!

    ReplyDelete
  158. I know, bring back the Reggie, and crack a fat so funny. Those were good times.

    ReplyDelete
  159. The time the hypnotise Johns and he would get a sore @ss when they said a trigger phrase! He got so wound up about it he was going to punch someone lol

    ReplyDelete
  160. Still nothin on Moreno. I think its night time over there so no more updates I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Yeah when his bottom got electrocuted was so funny, it was funny towards the end of the show when they hadn't done it for awhile and they said the trigger, it was like chicken or something, he forgot and there was a few second delay before he realized, so funny.

    ReplyDelete
