Another trade? With New England??

The Broncos acquired offensive lineman Russ Hochstein in a trade with New England. Denver sent the Patriots a seventh-round draft pick for 2010 which is the same pick the Patriots gave the Broncos last week as part of the trade with defensive end Le Kevin Smith to Denver.

Hochstein, 6-4, 305, played in 91 games from 2002-2008 for the Patriots, including 15 games in 2008.

He is a very
versatile player and can play center, play guard, tackle, tight end, even fullback.

OL Stanley Bryant, is the likely player cut to make room for this morning's trade to acquire OL Russ Hochstein. Bryant did not play well against the Seahawks.

Update: OL Bryant was released to make room for Hochstein.

The question I want to know is this a bad thing that McDaniels keeps going back to New England looking for players or is it good to keep picking them up since the Patriots have such a winning record.

  2. i heard simms was at the training facility with a HIGH ankle sprain,.... On crutches. That is bad as I want to kill the bears this week. But we all know Orton wont play the whole game, and Brandstater is just was too green! Bummer!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hey Jazzy whats up, that is no good about Simms, that is an injury that takes several weeks to heal from. Well I guess Orton will be out there for a while. But would be great to see Brandstater do well.

  4. Hey guys, I've been really busy lately trying to get on a high school football team. So its been taking up most of my time. But thankfully I got on a team and I'll be playing football my senior year.

    ReplyDelete
  5. heys guys, florio why couldnt you get on a football team. Oh and Simms injury is pretty bad news, just realized something if Orton gets injured to, were wayyyyyy screwed. And Aussie, sent u a trade request on FF, check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  6. oh, does that kinda suck or what? I mean i dont know, just asking, seems like it would be i little bit boring just staying at home all day and not going to school.

    ReplyDelete
  7. hey 80,
you happy with your FF team?

    ReplyDelete
  8. did you guys hear,.... BM is on the depth chart as a 1st teamer?...... but there is 4 starting WR's and apparently 12 starters on offense. What the heck is going on here?

    ReplyDelete
  9. if we dont do well against the bears, my expectations will really drop off.

    ReplyDelete
  10. well look at the bright side, the QB class is the best since Elway, Marino and Kelly. We could really make a move to one.

    ReplyDelete
  11. we really need to embarrass them. If we don't then yikes. And even if just our starters tear it up.. I dont care about the 2 and 3 teamers so much.

    ReplyDelete
  12. we need to get sam bradford next year

    ReplyDelete
  13. Any of those four would be great!

    ReplyDelete
  14. mccoy, bradford, tebow, and who is the other one?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Man I go play some guys and this place heats up, I will check out that trade request and that is awesome you made the team Florio.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Playing some guys I work with at cards if you were wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  17. well its 8man and there are 13 kids on the team. so ill get lots of playing time.

    ReplyDelete
  18. mccoy and bradford are the only franchise QB's but the others will probably do decent, man that bradford is a beast though

    ReplyDelete
  19. Why was it so hard to make the team?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well actually Snead is supposed to go first. He is ideal size and strength. Plus he runs a "pro style" offense.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No. They were short of kids and asked me to join the team. lol i felt like Brett Farve, i showed up in the middle of practice and started playing. I had to get a physical before i played and it made me an hour and a half late to practice.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Haha that is funny, and why do you have such a small team, even my team is bigger than that.

    ReplyDelete
  23. its a private christian school. But I get to play both ways a la larsen.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Haha I fully understand, and it is always cool to go both ways, we get to do that alot here.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think ill even play the same as larsen. FB and MLB lol

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nice MLB is fun in 7 or 8 man as you don't have linemen blocking you all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cool. Ill see though. I only practiced 30 mins. I dont even remember the coaches names. lol

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah it will be fun, I played MLB in 7 and got Defensive MVP for our team. It is alot of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ill let you guys know how i do.

    ReplyDelete
  30. So i watched district 9. did you guys see that? Amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey guys, I've been gone all day. Was a looooooooooooooooooooong day but it ended very well for me. And did any of you see on DB that Floyd Little was named a senior nominee for the HOF class of 2010? He's automatically among the finalists for the HOF next year!! HOW FREAKIN AWESOME IS THAT!!!! HAHA At this point I don't care which Bronco gets nominated or gets in the HOF, as long as they do. Always good news.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh and congrats on making the football team florio. Very nice! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. thats cool, oh and i play WR and Corner, but i mostly play WR. I am like 3 string corner on JV, but i start at WR for JV. Oh and for my drafts, i only got to pick my 1st 3 rounds, Forte, Roddy White, and Mcnabb, but then i had to go and it autopicked. My draft was descent i thought, Jazzy helped me in that trade and now i just need to find a pretty good # 2 back, cause i have Thomas Jones at # 2 back right now, i might take a chance on him though, hes either boom or bust.

    ReplyDelete
  34. What up Princess, yeah and congrats to little I did see that, and Florio no I have not seen that movie.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey did you guys here about the Gridiron world cup in 2011?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I am a little preplexed by the influx of ex-Patriot players.

I would have thought that the current crop was where we would see the final 52 players come from. The additional additions is a little confusing. Being an ex-Patriot is also another concern. I understand that McDaniels may have some first hand knowledge of these players their capabilities and potential, but why are we not looking for other options which might best serve the team.

P.S. Com'on guys this a blog not a chatroom lets try and keep ot that way :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Haha I assume you are joking about the chat room thing, there is nothing wrong with a little chat. As for the ex-pats, check what McD said on DB.com about the reason why. It pretty much explains why he did that.

    ReplyDelete
  38. yeah 80,
I was on the fence on that trade, but I didn't want Stewart as my #2 back, and I already have solid starters at WR. I hope it works out for both of us

  39. Who crapped in samoan's cereal?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hey Aussie.

I hear ya Samoan. I'm not really keen on all the incoming Pats players. I really hate to say this but it does feel like McD is turning this into the Denver Patriots. Starting to annoy. Perhaps we should look at someone to be a backup QB of quality in case Orton goes belly up, gets injured and/or if Simms can't come back based on his injury. Don't think we should bank our season on Brandstater. Not a big believer in him. I got faith in Orton but we need to have a solid backup just to be prepared. This is the NFL... anything can happen. We need to be prepared.

  41. For all the slack people:

The system, I think it is very relevant. The players are familiar with the style that we play. Any time that you are going to acquire a player this late into the process, I think that familiarity is very important. If you get a guy that has never played in the system on either side of the ball and then you only have six or seven practices before the first game of the year, it is going to be a work-in-progress just to get him to be able to go out there and function.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I get what you are saying princess, but there is a good reason for it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Man i was so close to getting tix to the game!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I get what he's saying too Aussie, makes perfect sense but it just bothers me.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hey Aussie, I am semi-serious. Don't get me wrong I love to chat but when I cam into this blog the first couple of comments were made regarding the topic than all of a sudden I have scroll all the way down the page to find another comment regarding the topic.

Maybe a chatbox should be placed on the site which appears on everypage so that we can refer to that for idle or non-related chit chat imo.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't mind, he got rid of Bryant who played crap in the last game, and picked up Hochstein who knows the system and has played for a superbowl winning team. I would pick Hochstein over Bryant any day.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I really dont care about this new news. Like either of those guys have a chance of starting.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ok I get what your saying Samoan, I will look in to it. But people are just commenting and most of it is on the subject or football related. Plus remember this is a fan site, so it is also about the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My 7th string punter is better than your 7th string punter! Not that interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Haha Florio I get it, this week it will be my QB is better than yours.

    ReplyDelete
  51. lol i asked if anyone has seen district 9 and people get their undies in a bundle? We've been talking about highschool football and College football.

    ReplyDelete
  52. And it is probably a good movie, we are all passionate broncos fans, so lets all get along.

    ReplyDelete
  53. lol i feel so bad but i was laughing my face off when the seahawks kept smacking Tom around! lol That blindside hit had me on the floor!

    ReplyDelete
  54. That reed kid was all over tom that game.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I think tom would have been better if he had a line protecting him.

    ReplyDelete
  56. LOL florio... you're too funny!! The 2nd of that game got so bad, just about all we can do to shake it from memory is laugh it off... or laugh at Tom like you did. I'm so slap happy right now though, just about anything is funny. I've been giggling at nothing all night. haha

    ReplyDelete
  57. well i was so mad it was making me laugh. The last time he was hit he just stared down the blitzer. He didnt even look for a wr.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Blindside sacks always make my laugh. The QB is all serious looking down field then SMACK! They hit the turf. Oh, it gets me everytime.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yeah, it was his first pro game time so give him a break, give him some time to adjust and he could be good.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I dont care how he played, him getting thrown around was hilarious to me

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think it is funny when he stands next to McD because McD is such a midget haha.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It is pretty funny about the QBs getting sacked like that. Gotta laugh at something like that during such a bad half of a game.

    ReplyDelete
  63. They are rookies and backups, I didn't expect them to do anything good in the 2nd half anyway. I just hope in the next game we get some turnovers.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Florio, congrats on making the football team. you said you're homeschool? that doesn't sound very fun.

samoan, the chit chat is fine. its fun. As long as we keep it clean.

    congrats to Floyd Little

I also hate how we are becoming the Denver Patriots but as long as our team is fun to watch and we are competing for super bowls I'm happy.
