The Tim Tebow

The Tim Tebow, you have heard the legend and seen his face everywhere. But time to take a bit of a deeper look at him as a Broncos fan. Not being a Gators fan I have not seen enough of Tim Tebow play and didn’t know much about the legend. The only game I saw him play in was against LSU and well he was terrible in that game. And he threw some terrible passes, I completely wrote him off then and did not want him as our quarterback. But that was only one game and I hope I was wrong in my initial assessment. That is one of the main reasons why I undertook this article was to understand more about the Tim Tebow and his history.

The Man
Tebow was born in Makati City in the Philippines, to Bob and Pam Tebow, who were serving as Christian missionaries at the time. While pregnant, Pam suffered a life-threatening infection with a pathogenic amoeba. Because of the drugs used to rouse her from a coma and to treat her dysentery, the fetus experienced a severe placental abruption. Doctors expected a stillbirth and recommended an abortion to protect her life, but the mother wisely refused. Tim Tebow is the fifth child of Bob and Pam Tebow, both of whom are University of Florida graduates, Tim was born on August 14, 1987 in the Philippines.

All of the Tebow children were home-schooled by their mother, who worked to instill the family’s Christian beliefs along the way. In 1996, legislation was passed in Florida allowing homeschooled students to compete in local high school sporting events. The law specifies that homeschooled students may participate on the team of the local school in the school district in which they live. The Tebows moved in Jacksonville, Florida, and Tim played linebacker and tight end at the local Trinity Christian Academy for one season. Tebow's preferred position was quarterback, but Trinity football team's offense did not rely on passing the football, so he began to explore his options to play for a new high school. He decided to attend Nease High School, which under head coach Craig Howard was known for having a passing offense. With the rest of his family living on a farm in Duval County, Tim and his mother moved into an apartment innearby St. Johns County, making him eligible to play for the football team at Nease. His performance soon turned heads and led to a minor controversy of him being a home-schooled student having his choice of school to play for. Tebow was a three-sport standout at Nease, where he also competed in basketball and baseball.

Tebow grew into a man of 6 feet and 2’6 inches. And weighs somewhere between 236 and 240 pounds.

The History
We have looked a little bit into his past with his homeschooling and where he played. But more of a look is needed into the dude’s history. The history of Tim Tebow is long and I am not going to focus or go over it all. I want to go over more of his college career here. But I am not going to leave his high school history completely out. Check out the links below, they are the ESPN “Outside the Lines” show about Tim Tebow, it is very good and interesting, there are 5 parts.

Tim Tewbo - Part 5

On to his college career but a look at the end of his high school career to begin his college history. As a junior, Tim Tebow’s stock rose as he became a high profile, highly recruited major college quarterback prospect. The 6’3”, 225 lb (1.91 m, 102 kg) quarterback continued to impress during his senior season, leading the Nease Panthers to a state title, earning All-State honors, was named Florida's Mr. Football and a Parade All-American. Tim Tebow finished his high school career with 9,810 passing yards, 3,186 rushing yards, 95 passing touchdowns and 62 rushing touchdowns. He played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Game in San Antonio, Texas which features the top 78 senior high school football players in the nation and is shown nationally on NBC television.

Despite having parental and sibling ties to the University of Florida, Tim remained open minded during the recruiting process and became very close to Alabama coach Mike Shula. But after careful consideration and much deliberation, he decided to play for the team he felt best suited his skills and style of play. Tim Tebow chose to play for coach Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators, who employ a similar “spread option” offense that he excelled in at Nease High School.
In Florida's 2006 "Orange and Blue" Spring scrimmage, he completed 15 of 21 pass attempts for 197 yards and one touchdown. After the game, some Gator fans suggested that Tim Tebow could be named the starting quarterback over then starter, Chris Leak. Coach Urban Meyer later said that despite Tim Tebow's impressive performance, Leak would remain the starting quarterback. Prior to the 2006 season, Tim Tebow was listed by Sports Illustrated as college football's future top mobile quarterback.

Coming off the bench behind senior quaterback Chris Leak. Tim Tebow made his college debut in a goal line situation against Southern Miss, rushing for a touchdown on a designed quarterback scramble. He led the team in rushing in the next game, against UCF, and finished 2006 as the Gators' second-highest season rushing leader.

He made his SEC debut against the Tennessee Volunteers on September 16, 2006. His performance included a ten-yard run on his first carry and converting a critical fourth down near the end of the game.

Tim Tebow's biggest game to date came against the LSU Tigers on October 7, 2006, where he accounted for all three of the Gators' touchdowns, passing for two and rushing for another. Tim Tebow had a one-yard run on the goal line for his first score, a one-yard "jump pass" to tight end Tate Casey, in which he jumped in the air and double-pumped his arm before releasing the ball, and a 35-yard play-action pass to wide receiver Louis Murphy.

Tim Tebow played a role in the Gators' victory in the 2007 BCS National Championship Game against Ohio State. He threw for one touchdown and rushed for another, finishing with 39 rushing yards.

Tim Tebow - 2007
Tim Tebow was named as one of the "Breakout Players of 2007" for college football by Sporting News, and will start at quarterback for the Florida Gators in the 2007 season. The Gators' offense in 2007 should be similar to what Urban Meyer used at Utah, since Meyer views Tim Tebow as “very similar to Alex Smith.” Smith was quarterback for Meyer's last team at Utah in 2004, which became the first team from outside the BCS conferences to play in and win a BCS bowl game, and went on to be the top overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.

While there were some questions about how he would perform as a full time passer, he opened the year with a bang, going 13-of-17 for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns in his starting debut against Western Kentucky University. For the season, Tim Tebow is currently 97-148 for 1455 yards and 13 touchdowns passing—ranking third in pass efficiency—with an additional 105 rushes for 500 yards and 9 touchdowns on the ground through six games.

In week 4 of the season, when the Gators faced Ole Miss in an SEC match-up, Tim Tebow broke the school record for rushing yards by a quarterback in one game, with 166 yards.

In December of the season, Tim Tebow became the first underclassman to have been awarded the Heisman Trophy. His record of 23 rushing touchdowns were the highest for any position in the entire SEC history.

Tim Tebow - 2008
In 2008, Tim Tebow led the Gators into SEC championship victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide. This gave them #2 ranking for the BCS standings, pitting them against #1 seeded Oklahoma Sooners.

They crushed the Sooners 24-14, thus earning the 2009 BCS National Championship.
All this, despite having a bruised shoulder and broken non-throwing hand.

Tim Tebow - 2009
Tebow opened the 2009 season continuing a streak of throwing and running for a touchdown in blowout wins over Charleston Southern and Troy. He ran for a touchdown in the third game, a win against Tennessee, but failed to throw for a touchdown for the first time since his freshman season.

Tebow started against Kentucky despite suffering from a respiratory illness and taking two bags of intravenous fluids before the game. He ran for two touchdowns to put him in 2nd place on the all-time SEC touchdown list and he also threw for a touchdown. Late in the third quarter he was hit in the chest by Kentucky defensive end Taylor Wyndham and then in the back of the head while falling by knee of Florida tackle Marcus Gilbert. Upon impact, he briefly displayed a prominent Fencing Response with his left arm, indicating that a concussion had taken place. He lay motionless for several minutes before being helped to the sidelines. Once there, he vomited. He was taken by ambulance to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. A CT scan showed no bleeding in the brain, with the injury described as a mild concussion. Coach Urban Meyer stayed the night in the hospital with Tebow, who was discharged in the morning.

On October 31, 2009 playing against the Georgia Bulldogs, Tim Tebow ran for his 50th and 51st rushing touchdowns, breaking the SEC career record previously held by former Georgia running back Herschel Walker. His penultimate collegiate game, the 2009 SEC Championship saw him once again facing the University of Alabama. After a poor performance from the QB, the game ended in a Florida loss with Tebow on the sideline in tears. In the 2010 Sugar Bowl, Tebow's last college game, he had 533 yards of total offense—a record for a Bowl Championship Series game—and accounted for four touchdowns in a 51–24 Florida win against Cincinnati.

Tim Tebow Awards and Recognitions
• Walter Camp Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week
• Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, two times
• Manning Award Watch List

Tebow would become known as the greatest ever college quarterback or player for that matter. He poured blood, sweat and tears into the field of the gridiron and yet they still doubt him.

The Analysis
After passing on the 2009 NFL Draft for his senior season at Florida, Tebow went on to enter the 2010 NFL Draft. Despite his college success, Tebow's NFL potential was much debated. According to former Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, he could "revolutionize" the pro game. Says Gruden: "Tim Tebow is 250 pounds, and he's the strongest human being that's ever played the position. He can throw well enough at any level." Former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said he would pick Tebow with a top 10 pick, and would take him over any quarterback in the 2010 draft. On the other hand, NFL analyst Mel Kiper, Jr. believes Tebow does not have the intangibles to play quarterback in the NFL. "I don't think he can be a fulltime quarterback. I don't think he can be the quarterback of the future for you, but I do think in the third round, maybe the second round, he'll be the same as Pat White," said Kiper.

NFL.com combine says:
Overview
Tebow is arguably one of the best college quarterbacks of all time. He has won a lot of games over the years as he is a perfect fit for Urban Meyer’s offensive system. He will need a lot of retraining when he gets to an NFL camp as he plays out of the shotgun formation and will need a lot of work on dropping from center and setting up in the pocket while reading coverage schemes. He has a strong arm but his accuracy has been inconsistent over the years as he often ends up throwing the ball when on the move. He is not generally real quick to pull the trigger once he decides where he wants to throw the ball.

Strengths
Tebow has the size and bulk to hold up at the next level. Is a highly-competitive player. Exhibits rare character on and off the field. Is athletic enough to pick up tough yards with his legs. Was extremely productive in college. Possesses very good arm strength. Is a winning football player.

Weaknesses
Tebow really struggles with his accuracy. Release is far to slow to fit balls into spots against NFL defensive backs. Release point and mechanics (elongated, wind-mill delivery which comes out too low) likely need to be altered. Was not asked to run through pro-style progressions and struggled reading defenses, especially those with NFL concepts, in college.

The dude is a freak, his numbers show it. He is a machine, a true athlete. But as a quarterback in the NFL? Well we cannot know that yet I would give him some time first. It will be some time before he is a starting QB in the NFL but I think he will. I hope he does, I believe he can. He has been doubted by so many, myself included but this kid is destined for great things.

He was selected as the 25th pick in the first round of this year’s draft, by the beloved Denver Broncos.

The Legend
I was thinking of writing a long list of the things that Tebow has done and completed to become who he is. Like playing on a broken leg, playing with all his injuries, crying for his teammates and their loss, the super bowl ad that he did, his college accomplishments. The nicknames that we as fans have gave him like The Big Tebowski and my person favourite The Mile-High Messiah. WWTMHMD, What would the Mile-High Messiah Do? These are the things that have made him famous and infamous with people.

But I did not think that was correct for this man. He has completed so much but that is all in the past, his legend has not been completed or started for that matter. It will not be until he takes the field as a NFL professional that his legend will being...

At the moment we have four quarterbacks on our roster but only one will rise…. and I wouldn’t beat against him.

  2. Great article Aussie. Just gonna say this cuz it relates to what Orton's situation was last season.

Nobody expected anything from Orton, certainly not a 6 game winning streak to start off the season. Everyone had MAJOR doubts about his ability to do anything productive & even though we ended up back at 8-8, he still did well. He made the Cutler trade look like we landed in a gold mine with Orton. He's not the best QB ever & we all know it but he helped us last season, which is a lot more than I can say what Cutler did for us in 3 seasons. So based on all that, Tebow deserves his chance. We have to give him more time cuz he doesn't have the NFL experience that Orton has had the past few years. At least Orton has played in NFL games, although Chicago didn't do much with him & we've only had him for 1 season. Tebow is coming into this season with zero NFL experience & a ton of criticism about his future potential. Now that he's a Bronco, it is only fair that we back him up 100% til he proves he's not good enough. I hope & pray he defies his critics and shuts 'em all up. So much could happen with him this season, it rattles my brain. He's got serious potential... he's a beast at his position, will be difficult for any DB to take him down single-handedly - he's a mover like Elway was, when he sees trouble he makes a move, he will give defenses all over the NFL a run for their money when they come after him... he's got the attitude, mindset & behavior I want from a QB on AND off the field. Not that Orton & Quinn don't have that either, but for some reason Tebow stands out more in that area.

Now granted, like any other player, he's got his work cut out for him. He's got a lot to learn in so little time (it seems) but he's got the determination & motivation to learn it all. The next 2-3 months he needs to become a sponge & absorb all he can about the system & working with the team and if does that... he'll be just fine. I don't expect perfection from him... he's gonna have bad days & good days, like everyone else. But with someone as talented as he is, he WILL survive the NFL. He won't go down easily. I really do think his biggest critics are going to be shocked & amazed at what he can do in the NFL. I can hardly wait.

  18. Yo Aussie!
Things are good. Since the last time I ever told you all anything about my life (if anyone remembers anything), a lot has happened. Bought a house, bought a dog, and lastly just found out that me and my wife of 3 years are expecting a little one 7 months from now.

How are things on the other side of the other hemisphere?

Fantasy will be fun this year. First time doing keeper league, so should be exciting. Last year I won both of the broncos blog people leagues, so bring on the heat! What time of day will work for you for the draft? Last year you were playing madden through the first half.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey Jazzy. That is awesome you are going to be a dad, is that your first? And congrats on the house and the dog.

Down Under things are the same old. Just finished the first semester of uni this year and hoping to graduate at the end of the year. I bought a new car in February. One pretty much exactly the same as this one:

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bf/2005_Holden_VZ_Commodore_SV6.jpg

And fantasy will be interesting, I will be hoping for a better showing this year than last. And I think yeah I was playing games at the time of the last draft. But if it is at like 8:30 at night for you that is about lunch time for me. And if you do it on a Friday that is an Saturday for me as an example. So if you could do it at night so it is lunch time for me I should be able to be there for the start.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sweet,I will change it to 7:00PM out here? Denver time. Would that be to early for you? Draft will last a couple hours. Let me know on that. And yes, this will be our first kid. The time will come soon where there will be 3 broncos fans in my house. Car looks pretty nice. I don't even recognize the logo on the front. What kind of car is it?

    ReplyDelete
  21. It is a Holden, an Australian Car company. And 7 says right, I think that is about 11 am for me. That should be fine.

And yeah that will be cool to have a child. I beat you make them a devoted Broncos fan. Just hope it doesn't become a Raiders fan haha.

    ReplyDelete
  22. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.... and root for the Broncos.

Oh and I just finished watching those videos. Being a christian and a broncos fan... Tebow is the man. I gotta get me a jersey.

    ReplyDelete
  23. So if your child becomes a Raiders fan you will put them up for adoption? haha

And those videos show alot of what Tebow is all about. And his jersey would be awesome. Maybe you can get one and give it to your baby?

    ReplyDelete
  24. My baby will have a tebow jersey. And if my kid became a raiders fan, i would be a cursed man. but he wont be a thug, so slim chance of him being a raider fan.

    ReplyDelete
  25. dang, wife wants to go to bed, gotta go. catch up with you later.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Haha a cursed man, funny, well I wish you and your wife the best.

    Catch you later Jazzy.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey frizzlefrizz... fru fru frizzy... the Frizzlester!!! hahahaha Congrats on the baby! Hope your wife has a good, safe & healthy pregnancy & that you guys have a healthy child in 7 months. lol... if your kid did become a raiders fan I think you'd be more than a "cursed man". That would be just downright sad!! lol Good luck finding a Tebow jersey for the baby though... I got lucky with my aunt finding mine for graduation. I still can't believe I have one.

Oh and that's a sweet car you got there Aussie. Very nice! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks Princess,
    Hows the post graduate life?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mellow. lol Been busy doing some major cleaning in the garage. And I'm starting to put together another photo album only this one is for my mom. She & my dad got to go on an all expenses paid for trip to Australia in 1991 (when I was 5... yeah they left me behind, :( Anyway, I went through the box of all the pics & souvenirs they brought back and I'm gonna try to put it together & give it to her for Christmas, hopefully without her seeing it. I want it to be a surprise.

Other than that, just trying to decide where I want to work. I got so many options in front of me I have no clue what to do. I just know I need to make some money!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow, that sounds like a cool idea.
Too bad they didn't take you with. That would be cool to go down under.... to the dark side. Just kidding Aussie.
Well it sounds like you at least have some options, thats a good thing. It seems like a lot of people have a hard time finding work these days. My wife went to Arizona for the week. She got a worship song she wrote recorded and put on a cd that is coming out soon. So she had to go to arizona for a pastors conference to perform her song. So I actually get to stay up and do whatever I want for a week. King sized bed, all to myself. But I will miss her.

    ReplyDelete
  31. lol... that's great she got a song recorded. Very cool. I'm sure people in my situation are having some trouble finding jobs, depending on where they are looking. Honestly, I haven't really done much, I just have so many places to pick from, I just don't know where to begin. Its overwhelming to me. I have a few friends that might be able to help me out with a job that would suit me... I just need something to give me an idea of where to go. My main concern is finding a job that I'll be happy with for awhile. I don't know how much longer I'll be here in Missouri & I hope its not more than maybe 2 years but while I'm stuck here, I want something that I'll be happy with. I can't settle for just any job. Ya know what I mean?? Anyway....

Yeah, when I found out my parents skipped town for 2 weeks (yeah you read it right) and left me at Gpa & Gma's to go to Australia... lets just say I wasn't very happy. But I'm glad they got to go on a nice trip like that together. Plus it was only set up for 2 people, still they could've packed me in one of the suitcases... LOL, wouldn't even know I was there! My dad loved every minute of that trip which is why I would've loved to have been there too.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Cool,
Well, I pray that you find the right job, But enjoy being done with school, because once you find a job and move out on your own, life gets busy. Non-stop work. It would be nice to be in the place you are in.

Well I will probably be around this week, so I will catch up with you later. I have work at 6 in the morning. 10 hour days doing work out in the 100 degree weather in the desert is no fun. So I must recover. 1 day down, three to go. Then a three day weekend. Have a good night princess.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey guys and gal, thanks Princess for the comments on the car. Just finished spending 2 and a bit hours cleaning the thing.

And I get what you are saying about the job Princess. You want something you will enjoy and not get bored with quickly. But must jobs suck and it takes a while to find one that just suits you.

And that is funny about your parents leaving you to come down under, the best place on earth, haha. I bet your mum loves that present.

And Jazzy 10 hour days, brutal. But no woman for a few days, can you say PARTY! haha. Jazzy you should live it up because it will be the last freedom you will have with the baby coming and all haha.

Have you thought of any names for the baby, girl or boy?

    ReplyDelete
  34. So this is way off the topic of football... sort of but just came on here to razz Aussie a little bit about the whooping they got today from the Germany soccer team!! The US may have gotten lucky with a 1-1 draw against England but at least we didn't get our butts kicked. LOL Sorry, I just had to be the first one to say something. My competitive side has been dying to rub something in someone's face & this just happened to be it... at Aussie's expense. Sorry dude!! LOL This is what happens when there is no Bronco football cuz its offseason.

Alright, better get out of here before my ego takes over me. lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. What up Princess, I had to get up at 4 am to watch this game. I wasn't disappointed, we were beaten by a far better team. It just showed how much we need to improve to get to their level. And was also a tough task. We had some good moments but they craved as up good in the backline.

But we should beat Ghana and Serbia to get second place and hopefully a game against the English. Why? Because the Aussies always beat the poms haha. If not it will be against the US.

So it could be interesting, oh and I completely forgot you love soccer.

    ReplyDelete
  36. haha. You guys. Sorry to say, but not a big fan of soccer Princess. You'll be lucky if i watch one of our USA games. And i probly will this week. Friday right?

And wanted to say congratulations on being a dad Jazzy. Have fun with it. You still livin ABQ? And just wanted to say no repeat FF title for u this year. Sorry. haha. It was my first year of FF and this year i know all the ropes and strategys for FF. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Haha,
thanks 80. I am way excited. I want a boy, wife wants a girl, but we will be happy with whatever we are blessed with. oh, and aussie, we like Abigail or abby for a girl and have yet to decide on a boys name, but I like elway for a middle name. ha, but the wife said dream on.

So yeah, we still live in albuquerque, close to rio rancho now, by golf coarse and paseo.

And lastly, my record speaks for itself, in my yahoo leagues, I have played 4 times and I have 3 golds and a silver. So bring it. I have about 4 or 5 years under the belt.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Not only do I love soccer, I've played since I was 4. I could dance in circles around you guys. hahaha USA is gonna win it this year... they have to... it would be real nice considering they've never won the WC before. There is no way Australia will beat the US if they get the chance to play against one another. You guys are NO match for the US.... that's a little bit of the American ego talking & simple facts. lol :p

lol @ #80 - sounds like you like soccer as much as I like watching basketball. I don't have anything against basketball, just not too exciting to me anymore BUT its a heck of a lot better than golf. Oh my word, do I hate golf. Put me to sleep in a heartbeat. Oh and the US plays on the 18th (this Friday against Slovenia @ 10am ET so early in the morning for you) then they play on the 23rd (next Wednesday against Algeria @ 10am ET again). Both games on ESPN or ESPN2. Pick your poison but you better support our boys!!! If you do, I guess I'll even it up by watching a BB game. Lord help me. lol And I'll know if you watched it cuz I'll be watching it of course & then I'll come on here & ask you questions about it that you would only know if you watched the game. So no tricking me you little punk. lol Wow, I'm having way too much fun with this.

Oh and meant to ask you this #80... how was your cruise? Where did you go?

LOL @ frizzlefrizz... if it is a boy you definitely should get the middle name to be a Bronco name. That would be hilarious. You could always name him John cuz you'd get a double-whammy... its both a Biblical name & its Elway's first name. HA!! And if I remember correctly your last name is Martinez, right? If so I'd say it has a nice ring to it... John Elway Martinez!!! ahahahaha That would be freakin' awesome. Alright, I'm done now.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That would be an awesome middle game for a kid Jazzy. Elway i like it. And John Elway Martinez does sound pretty good. And Princess has a point with the double wammy. Bible and Elway. lol. But yea that would be cool if your wife let u. And so we live pretty close to each other. I live in Rio Rancho in Enchanted Hills off of 550 by the Home Depot. And about the FF thing. I just want to say im lookin forward to it and its going to be alot of fun.

Princess: I definetly agree golf is really boring and i dont have anything against soccer, its just i think its boring and mostly a girl sport. lol. And over here its during football season and im definatly not going to waste my time on it with all the football excitement and things do to. But i guess there is one thing i can root for in soccer right now. GO USA!!! haha. And about watching the games. First of all im not sure exactly wat time the games start here. 8 maybe? Well anyways i have football workouts from 7-9 in the morning from Mon-Fri. so i will miss part of those games. And how long do the games usually last about? I will watch what i can of the games, but u have to watch the Celtics vs. Lakers game tonight and if the Lakers win and take it to Game 7 you have to watch that game also on Thursday. Both games are at 9pm ET on ABC. So there u go and ill ask u questions also. lol.

Now for my cruise. It was AWESOME and i had a great time. Was so fun. So let me tell u about it and all the details. lol. We went to Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. On Catalina Island i went sea fishing, spent time on the beach, and went snorkling! The snorkling was so cool. You could see thousands of fish underneath you and pretty much touch them. Seeing underneath the water was awesome were you could see all different kinds of fish and corals and all kinds of stuff. Pretty cool. In Ensenada we didnt do much, just went to all the shops and the market and stuff and bought some things. I got some Foakleys! (fake oakleys), but they look real and u couldnt know if there fake or not. Now on the ship the things i did was play basketball with a whole bunch of guys alot, played miniature golf, ping-pong, swam, tanned, and watched movies. And the food, oh the food. There was so much food all u could eat buffet style the whole time. I ate so much and it was so good. And then at night the dinners were probly the best because it was a really nice restaurant we would eat at night, all u could eat. Lobster, steaks, whole buch of fancy foods and just delicious things. lol. Yep that was the highlights of my cruise.

  40. Whoa,
Just realized that I posted under a different account. I was like who is Jesse? Anyways, I tried to get her to go with a few broncos names, but we just haven't agreed on anything yet. She likes the name Asher. I don't though, it sounds too much like he could be one of santa's reindeers . And we both agreed we won't chose any names that are common, so john is out. But elway would be an awesome middle name. Oh and you would like this. Our anniversary is 7/7/07. Double- triple whammy. 7 is elways number, plus biblically, it is the number for completion or fullness.

So 80, we do live close, I go to that home depot all the time. It takes me less then 10 minutes to get there. You ever go up ellison to Mondo's Mexican Baja? If you are ever free, you should join me and my brother in a game of racketball. I don't know if you remember, but he is around your age and plays football for highland.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, and princess,
my wife is a broncos fan, (still bitter that they let jason elam get signed ny the falcons a few years back), but a broncos fan nontheless. She actually likes the name elam. But it would have taken marrying a hardcore broncos fan like your self to get a chance to name a boy john elway martinez. Hahaha, that does sound good though.

    ReplyDelete
  42. So we signed kolby smith from the chiefs and chose our punter huh? interesting. I guess that is a for sure no go on B. Westbrook.

    ReplyDelete
  43. yeah well have to do that sometime Jazzy. Also not sure about Kolby Smith. I think him or JJ Arrington will be cut and we will keep one.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ya know, you could always record the soccer games & watch them later on!! Duh. I won't watch the BB games if you aren't able to record the soccer games or watch them. I will say though, if and when the US makes it to the final match to win the WC you HAVE to watch it... every second. And only then will I find some basketball game to watch. Anyway, wow, sounds like the cruise was a lot of fun. Making me hungry here. lol Glad you had a great time.

Well, of course John Elway Martinez sounds good... I made it up and its named after a football legend. Asher? Really? LOL, it does sound too much like one of Santa's reindeers. That's funny. So no common names, eh? hmmmm... I'll have to think on that... give you some ideas. That's cool your anniversary is all 7s. Hands down my fav number - bet you can't guess why. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  45. As for Kolby Smith... if either him or Arrington is to get cut... most likely it would Smith. Just depends on how much they prove themselves but honestly, who knows what McD will do. The dude is unpredictable.

I just can't believe they still haven't signed Doom yet. Am I the only one that thinks they've been holding out on him for way too long? And to think, they have a lot of rookies to get inked as well... like Tebow, Bay-Bay, Decker. For offseasons being so dull cuz there's no football they sure are full of drama.

    ReplyDelete
  46. ill watch the the game when USA goes to final match, but you should watch the BB game on Thursday. Its like the superbowl of basketball. Last game of season game 7. So if u dont watch that game u will have to wait a whole another year. And this Doom thing is really bothering me also. Get him signed LT!

    ReplyDelete
  47. What up gang, 80# sounds like you had a good cruise dude.

Jazzy, some nice names there, I already have Champ picked out as a middle name for my first boy haha.

And the soccer, watched Portugal play Ivory Coast, was a really good game, but teams like the US and Aussie have nothing on these guys. Round of 16 would be good, if Australia can play England then we will win haha. But can't wait, Australia playing Saturday, which is like Friday for you.

And Kolby Smith, interesting, probably get cut, but he will know all the cheifs plays haha.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yep great time Aussie. And just out of curiousity, i dont really care and it doesnt really matter to me, but why do u always put my name 80# instead of #80? haha. IDK, just realized u always do that and was wonderin if it was for any particular reason. And also very true about Kolby Smith. haha.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well I call you 80 hash(#) instead of hash(#) 80, just makes more sense to be to put the 80 first. Because you are 80.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I guess i could see that.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Aussie, Hillis is still on the background

    ReplyDelete
  52. yes people are! haha. Were u been Doc and what u been up to?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm still in school brotha

    ReplyDelete
  54. really? Why? Summer School or regular school?

    ReplyDelete
  55. regular. 2 more days until I'm a free man

    ReplyDelete
  56. Dang i got out like almost a month ago. Just enjoying my summer. Im pretty sore right now. I started summer football workouts on Monday, this first week is always the hardest. But i am really excited for football and cant wait till the actual season gets here!

    ReplyDelete
  57. first week in conditioning right?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yo doc! Long time no post.
How are things going? Did you get that email about rejoining the fantasy keeper league?

    ReplyDelete
  59. which email adress did you send it to? Well anyway I don't want to do it again.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I sent it to dudleyjohn@sbcglobal.net . So you are ok with me finding a replacement for your position then?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yea first week is almost all conditioning and i had just gotten back from my cruise 2 days before so i was kinda out of shape, but i like it, just excited getting back into football. And to bad u dont wanna rejoin the FF league Doc. Soooooooo.........I believe we need a replacement...ummmmm......Princesssss!!! haha. No really, im serious Princess, just do it. Its alot of fun and very exciting and pretty easy to do. Some times its based on all luck so u could win it all! I won one of my leagues last year and it was my first year last year. Im telling u it is alot of fun. If u join ill even watch all our USA soccer games coming up, just for u. lol Pleaseeeeeeeee. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hey guys, and doc I will be doing some updates to the site soon I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thats cool Aussie. No rush or anything. And just wonderin. Did u decide to not make that new updated more advanced blog u were talking about a couple months ago? Its cool if u arent just wonderin and if u are no rush. Just wondering about that.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I told myself I wouldn't ask questions about any FF league considering it just gets me closer to signing up, which I don't want to do but I have to ask... when is the last day to sign up for it? Cuz if it can wait that could give you guys more time to find people to sign up and I don't have to. lol Let me know when its absolutely the last chance to sign up for it and I'll think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh and #80 - that plead for me to join... very convincing but I'm still looking for a way out of this. Otherwise, you're gonna make me feel guilty & I'll end up joining just to make YOU happy. You little punk. lol :p I'm just messin' with ya.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ok Princess, im going to try to get you in our league if at all possible. And u know u want to make 80 happy.haha. So this is the situation. I saw that Jazzy has already found a replacement for Doc from denverbroncos.com. Last year there were 12 teams in our leaugue and right now only 8 teams have rejoined and are playin. Jazzy sent e-mails and has tryed to inform evryone a few weeks ago about rejoining and those 4 people have not checked there email or have just forgotten about the league. So if they do not join by early August or say they dont want to join earlier then i can get u in. Thats if we have the opening which i think well have a few. So well let u know by early Agust for u to join. Remember Princess, lots of fun, just keep that in your head and never look back now that i got u hooked. lol

    ReplyDelete
  67. lol, I'll keep an open mind about it BUT if I have til August you guys have to at least try and get other people to join... friends, family, anyone that you can think of and not just wait for August to come and expect me to sign up. You have to keep in mind I only care about football games & watching the Broncos win... I don't have a clue about FF.

On another subject, I didn't watch the game... completely forgot about it but I did have every intention of watching Game 7 for whatever its worth. lol Just had to say though I saw on Yahoo that the Lakers pulled off their 2nd straight NBA Final win. hahaha I know you don't like the Lakers #80 so I had to come on and say... ahahahahaha!! Too funny.

So I saw on DB we signed another rookie... J.D. Walton and yet STILL no contract or nothin' for Doom. This is getting pathetic and ticking me off. Someone posted a link about a rumor that Doom is asking for a 65 mil contract (40 mil guaranteed) but I don't believe it. I think he's worth it but I don't believe it for one second that he would ask for that much money when he publicly stated he has never played for the money and doesn't want to start doing that. Asking for 65 mil seems like way too much coming from him. Either way, the fact that he hasn't gotten a contract has just plain made me mad. I was hoping they'd get something for him before the end of June but now, I dunno. Doesn't look promising at all... losing my patience over this. grrrrrr

One last thing I promise... feel like I'm writing a freakin' book here. lol Anyway, US plays Slovenia early tomorrow morning (8:30a here) so it would be at 7:30 MT. RECORD it!!! lol US is going all the way!!! I can feel it!! GO USA!! Alright, I sound wired but I promise you I'm so tired writing this right now. I'm done now. lol

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hey Princess hate to kill your dreams but the US isn't getting out of the 16 haha. Just like Australia.

80#, I am still unsure about the other site, there are things here that I can't do there and vice versa. But I think I will do this update and see what you think. The return of the orange background?

    ReplyDelete
  69. 1-0 down princess doesn't look good.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal! 2-2 that is funnt. I can only watch it on the mexicano channel. Quite boring, but it is at least entertaining when the announcer says goal!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Man, that ref for the US/Slovenia game was horrible. He made so many bad calls, I honestly don't think he knew what he was doing. We won that game but NOOOOOOOOO he had to call a foul/penalty whatever the heck it was and forced us to have a 2-2 draw. Another case of bad refs. I hate those guys... I had so many bad refs like that playing soccer in high school... guess its contagious. Unbelievable but at least the US is still alive. England & Algeria came to a scoreless game making England & US a tie for 2nd in Group C. I had the game recorded cuz ESPN showed it at 8:30 this morning, way too early for me so I haven't even been on my computer at all today til now cuz I wanted to see the game for myself and not just get the score... but now, I'm all mad cuz that ref stunk up the place. Was an exciting game, plenty of action/penalties/fouls to keep anyone on the edge of their seat. US made a very nice comeback in the 2nd half... very impressed by their persistence to at least tie the game.

lol @ jazzy... I bet that was interesting watching that game on the mexicano channel. ha The only word he says that I understand is when there's a Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooal. So funny. :D

Oh and Aussie, the US WILL make it to the Quarterfinals... won't be easy at all but anything that's worth winning like this WC for the US is worth the fight. Australia isn't even going to make it to the 16. They are at the bottom of their group and have no points at all... they aren't going anywhere but on a plane back home. ahahaha Algeria will be a tough match for the US but they will have bigger fish to fry when they make to the Round of 16. Argentina & Brazil are the biggest threats. Those guys know how to play soccer. Very dangerous teams. Was surprised to see Serbia beat Germany. Man, I could on and on about all the teams & games. I better stop before I write a book here. lol

    ReplyDelete
  72. haha. Dont worry Princess, we'll TRY....wink...wink..to fill all the FF spots up if there are some left by August, but i really want u to play and i think everyone else does to. Wouldn't that be funny if the girl that never has played fantasy football before wins the whole thing and beats a whole bunch of guy veteran FF players. haha.

And the game, i completely forgot about it also. I got home from workouts and then just crashed for a couple hours then i went to my grandmas house for lunch. And then when i was coming back home i heard on the radio the US tied Slovenia and i remembered. And all that yapping about soccer above u wrote just about put me to sleep i think. lol...jk.

And so how does the soccer thing work? If US beats Algeria there in top 16 or what? If they lose there completley out?

Aussie: I see. Yeah and orange sounds good to me.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I like the current color arrangement. It is crisp, cool and clean. My two cents.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Doesnt really matter to me to much. Whatever u think Aussie is cool.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah the colours will stay the same, I will play with it and show you guys and see what you think.

And Princess what you been smoking to think the US can get to the quarterfinals.

And this tournament has been interesting, alot of bigger names have been losing.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Princess: You were yapping about the USA and Slovenia game and its bad calls. Saw this on yahoo about the ref and the conversial call that could of led to the USA comeback and win.

    http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/news/source-fifa-may-sit-slovenia-u-s-referee--fbintl_ro-referee061810.html

    ReplyDelete
  77. Saw this on yahoo also about what USA has to do and the scenarios.

    http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/news/playing-out-the-scenarios--fbintl_ro-scenario061810.html

    ReplyDelete
  78. #80 - I won't rule out on joining FF but you guys have to try getting others to join or I just might leave you all hanging. haha

Well, if me talking all that about soccer just about put you to sleep... now you know how I feel you all talk FF or baseball or basketball nonstop. LOL Snore... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. ahahaha

and I wasn't "yapping" about that ref, I was bad-mouthing him. That butt they call a ref had no clue what he was doing. Even the Slovenia team knows it... he hands down cheated the US out of that win. We won that fair and square and then he calls the foul on the wrong team. Man, I'm tellin' you all, if that were me... I would've been all up in his face, probably would've gotten myself red carded but when you got a game like that at stake... for me that would be worth it. My dog knows more about soccer than he does. Sheesh!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Aussie - I'm just sittin' here drinking some good 'ol American kool-aid... US will make it past the 16. They have a better chance that Australia does. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so the Aussies tied Ghana 1-1 but that isn't going to help you guys at all. AUS has 1 point to their name while the other 3 teams in your group have... well... a lot more than 1. lol

Oh and 80 - the whole WC soccer thing works like this. Right now England & the US are tied in Group C (thanks to a scum-of-the-earth ref who doesn't know his left side from his right side - yeah, I am P-freakin-'od at that guy)... only the 1st & 2nd place teams in each group move on to the Round of 16. From there its like the playoffs to the Final game. This is a link of how the whole tournament will play out.

    World Cup Tournament Schedule

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well, I read that link 80 posted about that ref... just ticks me off. They should award the US the win cuz we won that match fair & square. That call was the icing on the cake of other bad calls he made during the whole game. Man, I could bad-mouth him all day. grrrrrrr He just needs to do everyone a favor and just go find another job cuz he has no clue how to ref a soccer game.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I know Princess. I was just messin with u about "yapping". Ref was horrible and its not just u that thought so, everyone knows it and regonized it. Thats why it was on the yahoo home page. Damn Refs cheated my USA!! lol. And so the USA is pretty much garunteed a spot in top 16 if they beat Algeria and even if they tie they still have a a good chance. On the other hand Australia has pretty much no chance. lol. jk Aussie, but go USA!! I'll always support my country in whatever sport they play and compete in.....even if it is soccer. haha.

And Princess about FF. Now 2 more people just rejoined so as of right now we have 10 of 12 people and there is just 2 people that havent rejoined and its awhile till August so we will just have to see. :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Haha Australia actual has a good chance, if we beat Serbia we are pretty much in the 16 which would be good.

And Princess I feel your pain about the refs. Usually they are very good but last night the ref for the Aussie game was plain terrible. He made poor calls for both teams all night. Australia were the better team and should have one.

And the US draw I think has fallen good for them, since the French are out. The US could make the quarters but it will be tough going from there.

    ReplyDelete
  83. the quarters is top 8 right?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Yeah 80... the quarters are the top 8 teams.

AUS would absolutely have to win in order to advance to the 16... I don't see it happening against a team like Serbia. They beat the Germans, so uh, good luck with that. ha That's the only chance you guys have to get to the 16... beat Serbia. ahahaha i'm sorry but that just sounds so out of reach for AUS.

And I know for the US to make it past the quarters will be tough but they can make it happen. I still count our game against Slovenia as a win since it really was a win for USA. They could end up playing against some really tough teams. They will definitely have their work cut out for them... for some odd reason they remind me of the Broncos. Always coming from behind and barely getting the win whenever they do win. US can't do that everytime... the Slovenia game could've gotten way out of hand for USA. They rallied in the 2nd half to match the score and did get the win til the pea brain made the mother of all bad calls. Gonna take me awhile to get over that. Those refs can go fly a kite for all I care.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Well Ghana beat Serbia, and Australia should have beaten Serbia, but they had to play with 10 men for over an hour. Anyone one can win on any given day.

And I watched most of the Game and the US were lucky to get out of the second half. Slovenia were all over them. The US played well to get back into it.

    ReplyDelete
  86. When are we all going to stop pretending we like soccer?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Haha funny Doc, I am Australian so I follow anything Australia is in, just what we do, Princess loves soccer, she plays, that is her reason for following.

We or myself, are not pretending to like, more interested in Soccer, and we will be interested until the World Cup is over. So Doc pick a team and follow, whether that is the US or another country. Better to be interested then bored.

    ReplyDelete
  88. hahaha, holy crap... Portugal creamed N. Korea 7-0. Ouch!! Saw something like that happening anyway with either one of the Korean teams... they are no match for those European or S. American teams. Way too funny.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Im with Doc. hahaha...jk with u guys. I know Aussie and Princess like soccer, but i dont care to much. I might watch the games if i have time, might not. Im at least just a lil interested, remember just a lil. haha. And that was a blowout with N. Korea Princess. Also i found this on yahoo again. The ref that lost the game for the USA against Slovenia will not be reffing in anymore World Cup games this year. Serves him right for being an idiot, bet that makes alot of Americans happy, especially Princess. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  90. oops, heres the link.

    http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/news/fifa-drops-referee-after-dropped-call--fbintl_ro-fifaref062110.html

    ReplyDelete
  91. Well, I'm glad 80 finds it at least a "lil" bit interesting. lol You'll have to put with this all over again next summer cuz the WC for Women is next year. ha ha But the US WNT (Women's National Team) is REALLY good. Nothing against our men's team but they lose a lot of games... the WNT won the gold medal in the Olympics in '08 and very rarely lose. They are also the #1 ranked Women's team for the WC next year... above Germany (who they beat in a friendly match just one month ago) and above Brazil (who they beat to win the gold medal). But because I'm full-blooded American I hope the men can win it this year... they need to, but I have a good feeling they will.

As for that ref... I knew he's get "fired" but they said that in the other link you posted when they were just talking about it. I am happy he won't be reffing anymore but that call came one game too late. Now the Americans will have to fight to stay alive when we could've been a strong 2nd contender in our group. Oh well... better late than never I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I am with doc and 80,
Not very interested, I would rather chat about other stuff going on around the NFL. Not saying you guys shouldnt talk about soccer, cuz I also find in a "lil" bit interesting.... like 1 out of 10. I hope the men of USA win, but the 15 minutes I watched last week was the 1st 15 minutes I have ever really watched. But I like sports with more scoring. Soccer is too boring for me, watching people tun up and down a field for three hours, just to see it end at 2-2. Go USA!

So did you guys hear, steve smith broke his arm playing flag football.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Hey guys, watched that Portugal vs North Korea game. And I say the score doesn't show what good job Korea did to being with. Korea played well for the first half and had some chances to score, it was 1-0 at half time and they were doing well in defense.

Then in the second half Ronaldo decided to pass the ball instead of hog it and the goals came from everywhere. They were very quick in the counter attack and blew Korea off the park. Korea pushed too many guys forward to get a score and payed the price. Was a good game to watch, how about New Zealand?

And Steve Smith, how do you break an arm playing flag? Most of landed bad. And who would want to play flag with Steve Smith? Seems the teams would be unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I expect him to be good but not great. But hey, we are selling a ton of Tim Tebow Jerseys

    ReplyDelete
