2011 Draft Competition

That’s right everyone the draft competition is back for this year. The Prize is the same as last year, the bragging rights for the coming year as the Broncos Blog Draft Guru (BBDG). Last year 80# and Doc came away with the crown after everyone did a pretty terrible job, I wonder if these two will be back to defend their crown? Like last time this competition will be made up of two parts. Part 1 is the complete mock of the first round of the draft. Part 2 is a complete draft for the Broncos. Below is more on the rules, scoring and examples of how to answer.

The Competition Submission

The first part is as follows, for each team in the 1st round you need to pick the player that you think that team will pick. Now we are not going to worry about what position that pick is. For example 2nd Denver Broncos Peterson, we are not worried about the 2nd position but the player that is picked. So if you think the Broncos will pick Peterson put down Broncos Peterson. You need to pick the player that will go to each team in the draft. For each correct pick you will get a point. There are a maximum of 32 points that can be gained from this section.

The second part you will need to pick the 7 round draft of the Broncos. Now this can be a little hard and tricky. You can pick the draft as it is with the current picks available to the Broncos. The other option is you predict the trades you think the Broncos will make, for example trade down from 2#. If you chose the right player(s) with a pick that is from a trade this can be the difference between winning and losing. Correct picks of players picked by the Broncos is 1 point. If you correctly pick the ROUND that player is picked in that will give you an extra point. Correct pick of player but in the wrong round will only be 1 point. In this section creative is rewarded by the chance of getting more points from trades but it is a risky option than picking with the current picks. Bonus points may be awarded for correctness of trades.

The blogger with the highest combined point total from both parts will win the title of Broncos Blog Draft Guru (BBDG)!

Rules and Notes:

Look out for the 2011 Draft Competition Submission post, this is where you submit your competition picks. It is a good idea to start working on it now as you will need it! You have up to the start of the draft that is 8:00 EST of draft day to submit. Any submission after that will not be accepted. Changes and updates will be allowed leading up to the draft. You can submit as much as you want in the comments but it will be your LAST submission that I take. Therefore there is only one entry per person. Also if you update multiple times can you delete the older comments, it will just make it easier for me thanks.

Each person's results will be able to be viewed, so you can see everyone’s results. I will post them all up after I tally up the results which will be after the completion of the draft. I will post up the winner on here with an analysis of the points for each blogger that participated. Some digression will be taken when marking picks so as to be as fair as possible. As grandmaster of the competition I will get to make this decisions so try to be as clear as possible so I understand what you are doing. Again I will be as fair as possible.

In the event of a CBA being signed you can also, if you are game enough, predict a trade for a player or trade a player. For example the Broncos trade a 6th to a ‘Team’ for X player or Orton to ‘Team’ for X. If you are game to do as such and you are right I will award this person 2 points for correctness of trade (the picks), 2 points for correct player and 2 points for correct team. The other option to make this easier I will award points on the player. If you think we will get X Player put him down. I will not take into account what pick is traded for him. Example ‘Trade for X Player’. If you guess the correct player two points, but you have to be game and it could change your mock draft completely. Good Luck.

Examples of Submissions:

I don't mind if your part 1 and part 2 don't line up. But if you get it right in one and wrong in the other you will have to live with that.

If anything is unclear just let me know and we will revise the rules. ~ Aussie.

  1. Also I think anyone that picks Newton to the Broncos with number 2# should get an automatic fail haha

  2. I say we take Gabbert. He's better than Newton.
    Car- Peterson
    Den- Miller

  3. shouldn't your name be #2=Miller. Or do you still want a DT but think we will jump on miller? This year's draft is crazy, with som many different players who could go top 10 any any random order. I am still on the dareus bus.

  4. Haha Digger, will be an interesting comp, you participating?

  5. Like I said interesting comp, this years top 32 will be all over the place. So much uncertainty.

  6. it's so uncertain, i could win by luck... and i don't know toot squat about college. Just what people are saying. Don't know if i will play though:)

  7. Come on Jazzy your guess will be as good as mine, doesn't take to much time to work out, I think I got mind sorted, took about a day.

  8. haha, a day? I don't have the time for that. Maybe I will do a random crap shoot. We will see.

  9. Haha not a day in the sense that I spent 9 solid working hours on it. Just working on it here in there to get it done. You could probably do it in 10 minutes, an hour if you do a bit of searching on the web to see what other teams fans are thinking, which is what I did. Just do it next time the little man wakes you up in the middle of the night and you can't get back to sleep.

Cam Newton at 2# to Dallas haha we trade down. Haha, feel free to do whatever, was joking about the automatic fail but picking Newton to the Broncos is at least one point you would not get haha.

  10. yeah, i do also have a man crush on tebow, so i would be pissed if we drafted newton.

Luckily i was not given the ability to provide milk for my son, thats the wifey's job, so i actually sleep through the night pretty much every night. And lucky for me, the wife doesnt mind me not helping during the night since I work 10 hours of construction a day. I will see what happens. I will have some free time this weekend since we will be visiting family in roswell aka alien town. Perfect weekend to practice putting in my new sport.... frisbee golf. Racketball is taking the back seat.

  11. Mmmm Tebow, who doesn't have a 'man' crush on tebow haha.

And too funny, he's all yours hone haha. Ok cool I will have the submission post up on the weekend for everyone to enter.

Also frisbee golf sounds interesting. But how do you get the frisbee in the hole? haha

  12. Went off to answer my own question of 'How do you finish a hole or score in frisbee golf?' I found this of course:

But well searching came across this: http://www.foundshit.com/images/frisbee-cactus-hazard.jpg which = Jazzy haha

Also thought this was relevant and funny:

  13. Other than Gabbert and Newton today we had this:

The Broncos also met Tuesday with Baylor running back Jay Finley and Abilene Christian receiver Edmond Gates. They meet today with Villanova offensive lineman Ben Ijalana and Kansas State RB Daniel Thomas.

  14. how do you get the frisbee in the hole??? hahaha, that is the best question i have heard all week. Its a blask, who would have thought one could blast a frisbee 300-500 feet?

  15. Haha thought you would like that one. To you casually walk around the course or run? and do you have caddies and different weight frisbees for different situations?

Also are there bunkers or water hazards?

So many questions, thinking about Frisbee too much, need to focus on football haha.

  16. OMG, frisbee??? Geez, I guess with no football its come down to that. Oy vey! Things are getting worse, on nfl it says that the judge has decided to postpone mediation talks til Mid May. I think that is on drugs or something. Like I said, I'd be more excited about the new schedule if I knew for certain we'd actually have a season. This is so depressing!

And with no potential season I still see no point in having a draft but either way looks like we could be in for some trouble. I guess on nfl they are saying the Broncos are looking at Newton & Gabbert. If they are even thinking of taking a QB in this draft, I seriously think I'm gonna flip my gasket!!! Bad enough they'll go offense a couple times but we don't need a rookie QB. We need to focus on priming, marinating & seasoning Tebow for the grill!!!!!!!!! LOL

Frustrated and completely annoyed with this whole CBA stuff. If we have no season, I'll either vanish off this site for who knows how long or I will probably end up writing a novel (I kid you not) that is made up 100% of my frustration about this whole thing. Just brace yourselves.

  17. Haha Jazzy, yeah I think Peterson and Miller are the top guys in the draft. I don't think they will go 1-2 though. A QB will go #1 I think. Trading up for Newton is dumb. Someone will trade up for Gabbert though We'll take Dareus.

  18. Haha Princess, next will be lingere football, as you put it, yummy! haha

I think the Judge realizes that they are getting no where fast.

Also Princess check out the press conference over at DB.com. It has a lot of good information from Elway and Xanders.

And don't disappear Princess we need some ladies up in here haha.

Digger, 'Trading up for Newton is dumb' that is why I think if the Panthers don't take Newton the Cowboys will trade up for him haha.

  19. Haha, no you don't run, it is just like golf, you walk from place to place. And you carry your own disks in a little man purse. And there are courses with water and sand, but the main obstacle is trees. And yes different weight for the disks and different styles, some are for distance and some are not but are much easier to control. Anywho don't want to bore you all but youtube it, it is quite amazing, and a fun sport. Good exercise.

I think if we don't get dareus, then we should trade down a few spots. And I really think we need a new beastly tight end. Really missing scheffler. Any chance we could get him back from detroit? Man McD screwed up our team in a bad bad way

  20. That's what gets me about this Judge pushing back the talks... if they are getting nowhere, why set them back even more??? Makes no sense. STUPID!!

Lingerie football?? I said nothing like that. You're crazier than I thought Aussie!! LOL

Man purse full of frisbees, eh? Yep, there's a REAL athletic sport for ya! LOL LOL I can just picture all of you guys on here walking around with man purses full of frisbees throwing them around in a big field. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Priceless.

I miss the Scheff too, as well as Hillis... to say McDumby screwed up this team is the understatement of the century. He's got a brain the size of a pea.

  21. Oh and I won't disappear, its just if we don't have a season, I just may not be around as much. Makes me sick it just might happen. I didn't think they'd let it go this far. Me and my wishful thinking, ugh........

I like being the only girl on this site. I practically run the place. LOL

  22. We will know more when Nelson rules on the injunction.

Princess, I meant the Yummy thing (in reference to Tebow joke). Lingerie football is yummy haha.

And Jazzy in sounds like a really manly man sport haha.

I miss Hillis, Scheff not so much, he wanted out. But I would like a catching TE though.

Princess always glad to have you about.

  23. Found this interesting and useful leading up to next weekend.

Broncos will do draft Elway’s way

  24. You are an strange little man, you know that right?? lol Lingerie football... only you would come up with that one.

lol @ Jazzy... I like how he said you carry around a man purse for that "game". Too funny!

I liked Scheff even though he wanted out. You can't really blame the guy considering who the coach was at the time. I think if Bowlen had took more time in deciding a new coach to begin with both him & Hillis could very well still be here. I think Bowlen jumped the gun too fast in picking McDumby the first time around. He wanted to believe a young HC could do something miraculous and he went for it, took that risk. It could've gone either way, but as usual it came back to bite us in the butt, BIG time.

When it came to being an HC, McD didn't know his left from right. The only 2 good decisions he made was 1) getting rid of Marshall the drama queen and 2) drafting Tebow. Other than that, he's absolutely useless as a HC.

  25. I agree the third Jazzy offered was also good, trading Cutler.

And remember it was Ellis not Bowlen that made that hire of McD.

And Princess if you didn't know there really is a lingerie league, the women in it are brutal.

Check out the vid, this women are intense.

  26. Haha Princess you should join haha :p

  27. haha, totally forgot about Butler. Completely spaced that one. How's that for I won't get over us trading him!

I'm almost certain it was Bowlen who hired McD and if he wasn't he for a fact a say in it and was part of the interviews. I specifically remember him saying that b/c of that, he was going to leave it up to Elway, Ellis & Xanders to hire the new guy. Bowlen definitely had a say in hiring McD if he didn't hire him himself.

Not gonna watch the vids but I'll take your word for it. Me in a lingerie football league... someone has fallen off their rocker!!!!!!!!! LOL Plus I'd really hate to hurt anyone like that... never know when Hurricane Ashley will come out!! AHAHA

  28. The way I remember it, it was Ellis that interviewed McD and recommended him to Bowlen who then hired him. It was Ellis's influence that got McD hired.

Princess you got to watch the vid. Nothing bad or wrong in it. Just women laying some pretty big tackles on one either. These women are nuts! I don't think Hurricane Ashley could stand up to them.
