In lead up to the NFL draft I have been asked by some other bloggers to put up a bit of a competition. The Prize is bragging rights for the coming year as the Broncos Blog draft guru. So I guess you are asking how is this going to work. There are going to be two parts to this competition.
The first part is as follows, for each team in the 1st round you need to pick the player that you think that team will pick. Now we are not going to worry about what position that pick is. For example 11th Broncos McClain, we are not worried about the 11th position but the player that is picked. So if you think the Broncos will pick McClain put down Broncos McClain. You need to pick the player that will go to that team. For each correct pick you will get a point.
The second part is you need to pick the draft of the Broncos. Now this could be a little hard. You can pick the draft as it is with the current picks. Or if you want predict the trades you think that will happen, for example Scheffler still needs to move. If you pick the right player with a pick from a trade that could be the difference between winning and losing. Correct picks of players and in the right ROUND will give you 1 point. Correct pick of player but in the wrong round will only be half a point. The blogger with the most points from both parts will win the title of Broncos Blog Draft Guru (BBDG)!
Changes and Updates will be allowed leading up to the draft. But the day before draft the submission will be closed and no updates or changes will be accepted. I will post up the winner on here with an analysis of the points for each blogger that participate. Also some digression will be taken when marking picks so as to be as fair as possible.
Update Notes and Rules:
I will get the last mock draft submitted by each person and use that to give you points. As grandmaster of the competition I will get to make that decision so try to be clear and I will be as fair as possible. Each person's results will be able to be view though so you can see the results I will post them up for every one.
And the winner is the most points in total from the 2 parts if you didn't get that.
Also was thinking, if you are game enough predict a trade for a player. I am feeling the Broncos trade a 5th to the Pats for adalius thomas. I Haven't put that in my mock but I am thinking about it. If you are game to do as such and you are right I will award that person 2 points.
To make this easier I will award points on the player. If you think we will get Thomas for example put him down. I will not take into account what pick is traded for him. If you guess the correct player two points, but you have to be game and it could change your mock draft completely. Good Luck.
This is an Example not official:
1st. Jared Odrick (shocker)
1st. Maurkice Pouncey (trade a 2nd and a 3rd, 45 and one from the moving back trade, and maybe Scheffler, feeling Cincinnati)
2nd. Terrance Cody (trade next years first)
2nd. Toby Gerhart (at 43)
3rd. Sean Lee
4th. Danario Alexander
5th. Trade for Adalius Thomas
6th. Erik Cook
7th. Trinidon Holliday
I don't mind if your part 1 and part 2 don't line up. But if you get it right in one and wrong in the other you will have to live with that.

Sweet!
ReplyDeleteHere is a mock from my other blog. I'll just enter it in to this competition. I haven't had time to do a "broncos" mock....but, I hope this is good enough:
http://footballnjunk.wordpress.com/2010/04/14/the-final-mock-draft/
Thanks Aussie for setting this up, im a little lazy and probably wouldnt have been so creative, but thanks alot. We should probably use this post for comments, questions, and stuff leading up to Wednesday and then on Wednesday we can make a new post strictly for submitting posts. Sound good. Oh and i just let all the guys at dbtruefans.blogspot.com know about our idea so we might draw a big crowd, but the more the better! Right!
ReplyDeleteFlorio just try to make a broncos mock draft by Wednesday because i think were adding both mocks together in points to get the winner. So if you want a CHANCE of winning then i suggest u make a broncos one to. haha
oops typo, meant to say "and then on Wednesday we can make a new post strictly for submitting *mock drafts"
ReplyDeleteOk will do, but you can submit before hand. I will get the last mock draft submitted by each person and use that to give you points. As grandmaster of the competition I will get to make that decision so try to be clear and I will be as fair as possible. Each person's results will be able to be view though so you can see the results I will post them up for every one.
ReplyDeleteAnd the winner is the most points in total from the 2 parts if you didn't get that.
Florio just copy and paste over to here. Not to difficult. Oh and everyone remember to get creative it could mean the bonus points you need to win.
Sounds good. Been a really quite day. Nobody at truefans. Everybody must be watching the basketball games.
ReplyDeleteHaha maybe, well it has been a few quite days leading up to the draft. If I was you I would go and study your draft picks, because you will need it to beat me WAHAHAHA! jokes, haha.
ReplyDeleteactually thats what im doing right now. Trying to put together my 1st round mock draft for all teams. I got the Broncos mock down, but the NFL one is a little challenging. And dont worry, my best effort will be put on the table to lead me to VICTORY. VICTORY!!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha nice, yeah it should be a good comp and very interesting.
ReplyDeleteUpdate, the other one was rushed, feeling this one more.

Nice Doc, I like, very creative.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Take a look at this.
ReplyDeletehttp://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-thegameface041610
Oh and Doc looking at your Broncos draft I don't think your trade value adds up (depends on what you think we get for Scheffler) I think you could possibly keep the 6th rounder.
ReplyDeleteThe value of the 11th is meant to be 1,250 points and the 21 is 800 and the 54 is 360.
ReplyDeleteSo their 21 and 54 is worth 1160 points. So we won't have to throw in Scheffler and the 6th, if you base it on points.
http://www.sportznutz.com/nfl/draft/draft_point_value_chart.htm
More notes about the rules: I don't mind if your part 1 and part 2 don't line up. But if you get it right in one and wrong in the other you will have to live with that.
ReplyDelete1st. Jared Odrick (trade down)
ReplyDelete1st. Maurkice Pouncey (trade a 2nd and a 3rd and Scheffler, so 45 and 3rd from the moving back trade, feeling Cincinnati at 21, fair deal is 2nd, 3rd, Scheffler for the 21st and a 5th)
2nd. Terrance Cody (trade next years first, 38ish)
2nd. Toby Gerhart (at 43)
3rd. Sean Lee
4th. Danario Alexander
5th. John Skelton (from Cincinnati trade)
6th. Erik Cook
7th. Trinidon Holliday
What's this last one Aussie? An update? Where will final products be? You may have to have separate spot and tell everyone once it's on there it longer changeable.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of trading next years picks.
Doc
Tis good. I'm not going to say anything bad, just say check your OTs make sure that's the order you like. TWilliams has moved up the boards, Bulaga down a bit(Aussie and his Intelligence got this one)because of short arms, Campbell was fast but dumb as a box of rocks and Davis has dropped to lower first for being considered lazy. Some say Shanny favored TWilliams over Okung before the rumors of Det taking Okung. BTW Det thinking hard about giving up the #33 for Haynesworth. Det. is getting smart. Look out. Okung in the first Haynesworth for 2nd. Wow!
Ryan Torain signed with the Skins, thats for you Princess.
ReplyDeleteThe above update is an update to my submission though it will now change again since scheffler is gone!
And yes there will be a post up on wednesday for the final submissions. These are just my submissions leading up to the final one, this way I have at least got a submission in case I miss the final post haha.
Good idea Aussie, i should probably put a submission up today incase for some odd freaky reason i cannot post on Wednesday. I will probably put my first 1.0 mock draft up later tonight.
ReplyDeleteOh and thanks for joining our site BroncoBrad.
ReplyDeleteOk cool no probs.
ReplyDeleteUpdated:
ReplyDelete1st. Jared Odrick (trade down get a 3rd)
1st. Maurkice Pouncey (trade back in with a 2nd and 3rd pick, to about the 25 range)

2nd. Toby Gerhart (at 43)

ReplyDelete80, I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteDez Bryant is considered mentally disabled in 49 of the 50 states ( excluding Texas )
I don't want Tim Tebow, but I think you're right that their is a high possibility McDaniels will take him.
Gerhard > McCluster
Other then that I like your last 4 picks.
Dez Bryant = New Beast
ReplyDeleteTim Tebow = McD favorite
McCluster > Gerhard
We will see on draft day, we will see.
why would we trade a proven beast for an unproven beast?
ReplyDeleteman that tebow talk has been heating up lately!
ReplyDeleteProven Beast #1 (Marshall) isnt McDaniels guy and the New Beast #2 (Bryant) IS McDaniels guy. Simple as that. McD likes Bryant, but doesnt like Marshall. Dont like it either, but thats the way it is.

I was going to have Cody in the top 20, probably steelers but for this draft I want him as a broncos in the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteAussie how do I do the 2nd SF pick if I think they trade both to KC for the 5 and 50? I have them getting Clausen at 5. I have KC getting Earl Thomas and Weatherspoon.
ReplyDeleteWell right down:
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco - Jimmy Clausen (maybe explain trade here)
Kansas City - Earl Thomas (from 49ers)
