Well some tidbits from day 1 at training camp. The day started off good with 3000 plus fans showing up for the morning practice and another record crowd for the evening practice. Most of them of course were out to see Tebow run around and throw some passes. Like I said the day seemed to start off well, Champ Bailey said the Team was amped and ready to go. But it all went wrong when Knowshon Moreno went down after catching a screen pass. He had to be carted off the field. It was later reported that he had not torn his hamstring, but he may have frayed it. The good news is he could only be out 3 weeks, so we dodged a bullet there.
Just after Moreno was carted off the field Correll Buckhalter went down with a back injury. He was then complaining about numbness in his back and spine. As a precaution he was taken to hospital for tests, where doctors examined him. The doctors believe it was just trauma and he should be 100 percent in a week or so. It is not believed to be a long term injury and it should not affect his season. But I think we should keep an I on it just in case.
Also this questions the trade of JJ Arrington to the Eagles now with the lack of depth at running back. Kolby Smith and Lance Ball has been seeing most of the reps with the first team.
Other notes from day 1:
Looks like Eddie Royal could be in for a big year. It was reported on DP.com that Royal had been seeing most of his reps in the slot during training camp.Playing in the slot suits Royal's skill set, we hope he could be the next Wes Welker. It's nice to see the Broncos finally capitalizing on Royal's strengths.
Seems wide receiver Matthew Willis, who is on the bubble, is having a great camp so far making a lot of great grabs. On MHR it was reported that he looked like one of the fastest players on the team. He could also see time as a return, which would make more sense of the Arrington trade.
Seth Oslen up to his old tricks with a false start today.
Also seems Tyler Polumbus has been struggling at LT, MHR reported that Tyler was getting beat often and that include by Jarvis Moss for a sack. I think this new line struggled a little today.
Tebow threw some nice balls, but he also threw some wobblers.
On another note, Josh Barrett, Daniel Graham, Russ Hochstein, Chris Kuper, Spencer Larsen, Ryan McBean, Jarvis Moss, Brady Quinn, Matthew Willis and Wesley Woodyard were all voted Offseason Award Winners by their teammates. These players put in the most work this offseason, congrats to them.
Well that is it for today ~Aussie Out!

ha yeah we dodged a pretty big bullet with those 2 injuries not being very serious. Still not good that they probably wont' be able to do much in camp but at least they won't be out for the entire season. I can see that the hamstring injury to Moreno will probably bother him quite a bit during the season, I just hope it doesn't get rushed now and becomes a bigger problem for us later.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, we had a great start to camp. Very happy with where we are at right now.
